Elladan and Elrohir

At the end of the War of the Ring when Elrond left on the last ship leaving Middle Earth, did his sons go with him? I heard some people say they believed Elladan and Elrohir remained behind. Was it written anywhere what happened to them?

I believed it is said that they delayed their choice for a while and remained in Rivendell. But I can't remember anything beyond that.

They remained behind for a while at least, supervised by their granddad Celeborn

For some reason, the sons of Elrond were always rather intriguing to me.

Sons of Elrond

lol, I'm with you, Rian. I can't explain it, but though Gil-Galad is by far my favorite, Elronds boys are really intriguing.
