A bit drastic, LT. What led you to this point? Let's not be hasty...

Hey, I never said you'd be banned for not being a Tolkien fan, just think it's pointless to come to a Tolkien board if you're not.

Oh i see now. You edited 2 (or more if i haven't seen them) posts. Were these posts in which you cursed at the administration or other rule breaking/inappropriate behavior that actually would get you banned?
I really hate it when people just edit their posts and go "oh, nm"
Urg, we have no idea what you said! Oh well

Perhaps a fanfic forum could be a possible solution...? Then reasonable discourse and humor could be shared with out getting out of hand... I don't know just thinking with my keyboard...

Yep, Hobbit, me, too.
I, like LuthienTinuviel, am leaving for a while. (sorry Arian)
I might be back. I don't know.
I probably will, because it's hard to stay away too long, but I need to calm down. I've been really unhappy and unreasonable the past few days, and it's showing in my posts. I can't let that happen much more or I will be banned.
I can't say that Tater didn't help get me out of here. Tell him he's now rid of another unworthy Tolkienite . . . hope he's happy.
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began
Now far ahead the Road has gone
And I must follow if I can
Away from Entmoot if need be
Until I find a better way
To keep myself in control of me
Will I be back? I cannot say.

Namárië, folks. I'll miss you all.

I am kind of sorry some people are leaving, but life goes on without them! We can still be the Mooters we have always been.

Unfortunately this is not entirely true. They were part of the moot and their ideas enriched our own. Without them (or any other mooter for that matter) we are less that we were.

I agree with Elvellon. And in part, due to the nature of this thread, I have changed my sig. to reflect (all be it tongue in cheek) my feelings about the true strength of the 'moot. I hope that cooler heads will prevail for those considering a vacation from the Entmoot. I hope to hear all your voices in a gleeful chorus in the coming days.

Perhaps we should also endeavour to understand why they are leaving. And then, if necessary and/or appropriate, make the necessary changes for their return.

What change? Should we tell people not to express certain opinions? The particular opinion that was expressed is that this is a forum dedicated to the works of Tolkien. It is mostly true, except that this particular part of the forum is for General Messages. But then he went on to say, and this is the sticky point, and not in these exact words: the General Message forum is for use by people who also use the other forums, people who have read the works of Tolkien. And finally he implied that people who have only seen the movie and not read the books shouldn't be posting here.

Then of course, another admin came along and disagreed with every one of those points, stating that people who have only seen the movie are welcome here, and that people who haven't read the books are welcome in the General Messages forum, and that this is specifically a casual place.

But if despite all that some people decide to leave, there is nothing anyone can do. Maybe it's actually the right thing for the moment.

Yes, I am a newbie here, but I've been part of other messageboards and on the net for five years now, and this is pretty common everywhere.

I think that at least 2/3 from the people who leaved the site won't return because they won't be intrested in the site.

Ok. No doubt i'm going to offend someone here so i apologise in advance.

THIS IS PATHETIC

PATHETIC.

People can't just runaway because someone disagrees with them. I mean for goodness sake! If you dont like what is said then find another thread. simplae to remember. There are so many different threads that i really think people should have no difficulty in finding a thead where they are happy.

I am not saying its not ok for people to leave, that their decision but for goodnesake! you cant leave over nothing.

I dont really care what people have read or not. I hae personally seen the movie and read the LotR (apart from a bit of the fellowship which i am reading now.), and in case anyone hasnt noticed, there are different forums you know!!! If you havent read the books then there is literally no point in going into the books forum. I have not once ventured into the Sil forum for instance.

Ugh! This gets me soo mad!! There are people starving in countries at this moment and you're all getting worked up over what was said in whatever thread!!!

Ok. Since i have possibly offended every person who ever read this i shall possibly go read another thread until someone replys.
