Question

Hi...been a while since my last visit! It has been awhile since I have read "There and Back Again"...is Radagast even mentioned in that book?

I doubt it - I don't think Tolkien had invented him yet by the time he wrote the Hobbit.
But I don't mind including him in the expanded version, where you see more of the doings of the White Council and such.
He could have been included differently, though.

Radagast was mentioned once in The Hobbit. Gandalf used him as a reference to gain Beorn’s trust when he and Bilbo first met Beorn in this passage from the chapter “Queer Lodgings”:
Quote:
“I am Gandalf,” said the wizard.
“Never heard of him,” growled [Beorn]…
“I am a wizard,” continued Gandalf. “I have heard of you, if you have not heard of me; but perhaps you have heard of my good cousin Radagast who lives near the southern borders of Mirkwood?”
“Yes; not a bad fellow as wizards go, I believe. I used to see him now and again,” said Beorn.
Of course, that begs the question, how many wizards did Beorn know?

Which in turn, begs the Question: How many Lightbulbs does Beorn have? (or would PJ have added..)
