What a f*#&$(# disaster.
On Saturday, I was checking my online banking and noticed that there was a hold for $107 on my account. I was concerned, because I had not authorized any payments that I could remember for anywhere near this amount, and wracking my brain, I couldn't come up with anything it could be. This morning I called the bank, and found out it was to some random pre-paid mobile company (I have a contract phone through Verizon). The bank gave me the number, and I called, and the first thing the number said was along the lines of "If this company has appeared on your bank statement and you don't know why, press one." This made me more than a little uncomfortable, and although I stayed on hold for a few minutes, I quickly hung up as I didn't want to give these people (who I very much doubt are a legitimate company) any more information about me. So I called the bank, who told me I would have to go to the police and file a report in order to get my money back. Why on earth the bank can't just stop the payment is beyond me. Especially as it has not technically cleared my account yet. But I just got back from the police station, who said I could pick up my report (to take to the bank) at around 2:00pm today. They were nice, anyway, and the police officer seemed to know what to do. What a freaking disaster.

At least the police were helpful then, even though the bank wasn't exactly.
Why wouldn't it be enough for them with some written declaration from you that this withdrawal was not authorized by you, and therefore should not be carried out? Weird. At least they should do something when they get the paper they have asked for. We hope.

I'll celebrate tomorrow: first day off since school started
Noble, my Geology classes where like that as well. Do they also teach you about migration and the push-and-pull-factor system etc? It comes in handy when you study things like Economics and Tourism. In Japan I followed a course called Migration Studies and it was pretty much what I learned in secondary school, with a bit more background and country specific information. The theories were the same though,

Thanks, Varna. I meant whether I'm evil because I said I don't much care what some "great philosophers" have said. Then again, I do also think and fear that we humen are evil deepest down. Note, some of us are, fortunately, good deep down, but deepest - well, if we had a choice free of resbonsibility, I'm afraid we'd please ourselves only, one way or the other. ...

Ah, I had a nice 1 hour -walk on the local nature path. The autumn is showing it's signs again. And there was a beautiful tree bent over the road, so that it covered half of it. You know, it was kinda... rivendellish tree, with very thin, dark, long trunk and only few multicoloured leaves. I can easily imagine I'm walking in Imladris, now that summer is over and autumn coming. There's the same feeling of fading and something passing away... (We really need more smilies, like a smilie with a smile and a tear.)

Yes, there could be more smilies - I sometimes miss a really exited and enthusiastic one, for instance.
