I thought the Prisoner of Azkaban was the best book there was, and then they bring out the movie and it was rubbish, does anyone else think the movie should have been more like the book?

The movies should ALWAYS be more like the books, but sadly never are...

I was happy with the LotR extended editions, i thought they were fine. The first 2 Harry Potters were ok too. But this only roughly followed the books storyline.

I've found the movies followed the books fairly well. The small inconsistencies that I noticed were only after re-reading the books. Human imagination often creates what hollywood cannot.

Which movie d'you think was most like its book?

The latest was most enjoyable for me as it expands the emotional and relationship aspect of the characters. The twist at the end still has me baffled as to what will happen in 2yrs time when the next book comes out.
The GOF was very detailed and I look forward to sfx being done right in the movie (being released 18Nov05). It will be interesting to see if they can carry that off without it looking too phony.
POA was a mild mystery and of course the first two were introductory in nature and more to capture interest IMO.

I'd like to say some more about the book, but its sorta hard without giving it away. I did like the twist at the end, i never expected that.

I agree with you Witch King of Angmar, the first movie was pretty good and the second was okay but the third one I had a lot of problems with.

A 2 hour (or so) movie can't exactly follow a many hundred page book. The key is whether it captures the main plot points, characters, and feeling of the book. PoA did that better than the first 2 movies because the director added a kind of movie magic that was not present in the workmanlike retelling of the first two.

I watched the movie yesterday, I'm rather disappointed I guess, most people said it was better than the first two. Not that I wasn't disappointed with the first two.

As usual I hated Ron, the actor just sucks... really really does.
It did feel to me like I'm jumping over scenes, the movie moved really fast. It's weird, I only feel this way in the Harry Potter movies. I didn't like Harry hanging around Hogsmead without his cloak, I didn't like the scene with Sirius, Lupin, Pettigrew etc. in the tree (which looked sort of like a parody to me on the book. It was amusing), I didn't like the new Dumbeldore, I didn't like the Dementor in the train that seemed to be focusing in Harry when it isn't supposed to which kinda ruins it, and I would've liked Ginny in that scene as well, All the beginning looked very short, and the meeting with the Weasley's was very weird, I didn't like the fact that Scabbers just 'disappeared' without all the blood that should've been there plus the cat's hairs... the the list goes on.

In the first two movies my biggest complaint is the acting. The third movie improves marginally. But, its one thing to make a two hour long movie for a book with many, many pages. But, quit another when that two hour long movie is the longest book and yet manages to be the shortest movie.
It isn't even a matter of just what they left out, its also the fact that they botched over half the other details in the movie and included some very glaringly wrong things. I.e. Seeing Harry footprints in the snow ('cause that wouldn't have caused a mass panic) and Aunt Marge floating over Little Whining (good thing no one ever looks out their windows).
