I hope Jackson gives Del Toro the freedom to do things his own way. Early quotes from Del Toro indicate that he plans to follow in PJ's footsteps closely.

Looks like I've been a little out of date:Hobbit - One Tale in Two Parts

The Hobbit will be spread out through two films, with the White Council & Aragorn stuff included throughout, rather than one Hobbit film and one "bridge" film, as originally envisioned.

I think they've made a good choice, this will make room for higher quality and better depth in important scenes than rushing it.

I agree. I actually think that this is really going to help a lot more than hurt The Hobbit in the detail aspect. However, I don't think that my fears will be quelled until the film actually is released.
