The Chronicles Of Narnia Movies: Prince Caspian

I know there are quite a few devoted Narnia fans here who'll find this news particularly exciting; maybe you guys already know about it but - I just read in the Daily Variety this morning that there's a sequel to Lion Witch Wardrobe in pre-production right now. It is to be filmed largely in the Czech republic, and in England, and is officially a British film. The director is to be the New Zealander Andrew Adamson.

Anyway are those the same people from the first one?

(Hope this is on topic, I have a hard time getting the feel for the topic of some threads)

Last I heard, Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, and Aslan will be played by the actors who played them in LWW. No word, yet, on who will play Prince Caspian.

Check out this cast list.

Peter Dinklage as Trumpkin, that brought this movie up by a bunch right there.

I watched the trailer the other day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqzYukVDqy4 Looks pretty good, but I'm not so sure about the Tube (or whatever train we're looking at) ripping through the wall like that. Was that in the book?

From what I remember... NO! But, it makes it seem more interesting. Although, I prefer to see movies from books to be the same as the book it was from... Oh well...
I am SO seeing it soon after it comes out!

(a cousin said she is SO seeing it too! And she's over my shoulder... )

That struck me as a very Harry Potter-type special effect. In the book they're at a mainline railway station (which makes more sense, because who takes the Tube to go to boarding school?!) so they're outside. I think the trailer is very encouraging, with the sole exception of Caspian's apparent Spanish accent, which I'm a bit doubtful about. The look of the sets and costumes is great, though.

I was surprised when I heard Caspian's accent too. Oh well, it might be distracting but I don't think it will ruin what looks to be a great movie. I wish it was coming out sooner!

Well, about C's accent... In the book he was descended from pirates in our own world, soo, his forefathers could have very well been Spanish Pirates..... Not such a very long shot, huh?
Seriosly, if you dont believe me, read the book.
Hint: Its near the end when P, S, E, and L are going home.

Well the first film (TLWW) was ... and let's not beat about the bush here -

Apalling to a degree that was almost beyond Human Ken to describe.

...

to be Mild.

If this next is any better, then Aslan himself will have to have come West.

Meh, th first one wasn't too bad. I just hate what they did to the Queen... Anyone up for a Swedish Rasta as an evil ruler?

That sorta did kill it for me. I always envisioned her as an Evil Arwen Undomiel....

Obviosly you read Lord of the Rings before you read Chonicles of Narnia...

Yeah, I was shocked at first- the original illustrations give her more of a Morticia Adams look- but she grows on you.

Heh, yeah. Actually, I read Narnia first, and thought she was still some sort of very beautiful if evil queen, then once I read LOTR, the evil Arwen discription sprang into my mind and stuck.

Ahhh, that might explain it. Oh well, we all have our own decriptions of what the characters will turn out to be. Very few are the same...

I just got back from seeing it. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit, and am usually not too upset about deviations from the books. But right now I feel disappointed about Prince Caspian. There were a lot of little things that they got right: Reepicheep, Aslan (when he finally came into it), Lucy, Trumpkin, the scenery, the costumes. I'm mostly disappointed in Peter and Caspian. Their power struggles were annoying and really took away from their characters. I do not understand the attack on the castle, I guess they just wanted another battle scene at the expense of Peter's character and time that could have been spent on things they left out. Likewise with the White Witch part. The kiss made no sense. We'll see how I feel after a second viewing if I can bring myself to give it another chance.

I have to go and question the producer. I am very much for making a book into a movie, BUT only if they read the book! It seems as though they got a few important parts (trees helping narnia, caspian and the pevensies meeting, etc...) but they totaly messed it all up. i saw it today, and if it were'nt called Prince Caspian, meaning if it were not a part of the series, i would have loved it. But, nope, they just can't make a movie as good as the book.
Sorry, i just had to get it out.

I went to see it yesterday and it was quite good!! They got some of the stuff wrong if compared to the book, but itt stands well on its own. The ending scene just seemed a little, well, rushed. 'Well we are victorious yet again, let's leave our friends and live in a boring world that is not full of magic.' They had to leave and everything but it just seemed so quick. I was thinking the whole time, if I were there, I'd choose to stay. Where else do you have a lion as a best friend? But the movie was pretty good.
