It's really, really good. Some of the dialogue is cheesey (never George's strong point), some of the plot devices are dubious, some of the acting is woeful, (but compared to Luke...), BUT, this is one kick arse movie. It more than makes up for it with some amazing CGI, and really awesomely choreographed fight scenes, and action sequences.

Like EP 1, not much happens in terms of plot development. It's more about political intrigue, than heroic action "blow up everything in sight" sequences. The heroes are less black and white, and the hero/bad guy divide is infiinitely more blurred than Eps 4 - 6. In fact, you can now see why George decided to go with the lack of a climactic ending in Ep 1; the whole series of the "new" star wars movies have definately moved away from big explosions, obvious ploys, and clear-cut good guys and bad guys. In Ep 2, there IS no big explosion at the end, like in eps 4-6; but rather it's more about setting up the stage for the big fall.... Confusion reigns supreme. You don't come out of the movie with a good feeling in your gut, but rather a nasty case of acid stomach! And as for any of the storyline being resolved, well... I came out knowing about as much as I did when I first walked in. The dark side has definately clouded my vision. The future, I see not...

Jar Jar makes more sense this time around, has less lines, and actually has a purpose. In fact, his role is so integral to the development of the Clone Wars, that you'll just have to be prepared to forgive him.

The love story is a but sucky, but I can look beyond that.

Overall? I rank this one better than ALL of the previous ones, with maybe the exception of ESB... maybe....

I'm off to see it again tonight, it kicks serious butt!

Final note: the closest comparison to any other movie of the current denotation, would be Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. (Looks like George is hailing back to his mythological roots....)

Awesome, that was awesome.

It had pacing issues, and it was boring to watch the bad dialoge and romantic scenes, but besides that it was amazing.

I smiled when I saw Yoda teaching young Jedi, Jar Jar's role having a point to it, Boba Fett, the Death Star and Anakin's robotic arm.

The CG was great, especially the images of Clones getting prepared.

Oh, and Yoda was good as well.

YODA! YOU'RE MY HERO!
I loved it! I think the romantic scenes were necessary to make more anger in Anakin. I did think young skywalker was very irritating throughout the movie though.
Jar Jar being one of the key players in the starting of the empire is kind of ironic though.

Awsome, awsome, awsome.

Although this movie had a few flaws, (mainly the romance stuff, which was necessary, but could have been better) it was overall GREAT!!!!

Even Jar Jar wasn't bad. He seems to be okay in small doses. And his character has much more feeling, as he is being tricked into what he does.

Yoda rules. He unleashes the fury, and kicks a ss!

And Jango...too bad he met his fate at the end. But he seems to have passed on his ways to his son...

I have to go see it again to really give a solid review. I just walked out of the theater 30 minutes ago, and I need it all to settle.

2 years 364 days 2 hours 53 minutes 30 seconds...

Wow!

Admittedly, the first half dragged a bit, and I was starting to get worried. But then the big fight scene kicked in, and ... wow

I think the drama scenes were necessary. Otherwise, we wouldn't have Luke and Leia....
<thought shift>
BoP, with regards to our discussion earlier, you're right about Owen Lars. I just saw the movie a 2nd time 16 hrs ago and he did say that they were stepbrothers. It explains why Owen's not just 10 yrs old.
<thought shift>
BTW, the audience went "OOOOOOHHHH!" when the Camino girl told the kid "Boba, where's your dad?"
<thought shift>
I'm thinking Boba eventually slices and dices Mace Windu in Episode III.
<thought shift>
Crouching Yoda, Hidden Jedi Master RULES!!!!

I'm gonna view it again in about an hour. I want to see those 3 Millenium Falcons I've read about elsewhere just as Padme and Anakin are about to 1st land in Naboo.

There's also supposed to be some TIE fighters and X-wings in the coruscant(sp?) city. Great them park ride, btw.

Yoda's facial expressions are so unforgettable!

Question
Why did Ani have a bicycle chain for a hand, when luke gets a real looking one?
I mean, they can clone but cant make a hand-looking mechanism?
Or was it just a quick fix while he returns Ami home?

Haha XK, you died.
(private thing, i doubt anyone has an understanding of it)

The nice ship got busted right in the beginning.

I think it's because they have yet to perfect the technology for making it look natural-looking.

BTW, Sen, isn't the name of that assassin sent by Jango Fett Sen?

Did anyone notice the parallel between what C3PO said to Anakin in Ep2 to what he said to Luke in Ep4? He told Luke that R2D2 says "he has a message for a certain Obi Wan Kenobi." while he told Anakin that "he has a message from an Obi Wan Kenobi..."

Sen, I couldn't reply to your pm since youe inbox is always full. You need to erase the sent messages as well. I have no ill feelings towards you but never could answer back because....umm...YOUR INBOX IS ALWAYS FULL!

I'm still confused, though with your pm before.

It's a different technology, I think.

It seems to me that Anakin had basically a modified droid arm, while luke had an actual prosthetic.

Incidentally, we're near to being able to do this ourselves. Primate tests have succeeded in driving a robot arm with brain impulses.

I really liked the 40's feel in the beginning of the movie. (I swear I lived in the 40's in a past life. ) Plus the diner was cool. Both were like a an acknowledgement to what inspired George Lucas's Star Wars saga to begin with.

Now that it's been a few hours and I've calmed down. . .a bit. . .not very much, but enough. . .

Wow!!! Of course, Yoda is. . .YODA!!! He rules!!!

Okay, real review now. . .
Loved the fight scenes, the last 45 minutes were well worth the ticket price, and the not-so-great stuff such as poorly written Romance scenes with creepy giant fleas.
The pacing could have used some help, and the dialogue, (but there were some great lines in there!!!) but besides that, and the boring (but necessary) romance scenes, I thought it was great

Okay, gotta see it about three more times. . .

The Mace Windu / Jango Fett fight seemed short. Windu had some help from a beast (accidental); then when Mace was charging, Jango couldn't do anything since all his energy gun shots were easily parried by Mace's lightsabre and then he got beheaded.

I'm still not sure but I'm estimating around 12 to 15 when they were outnumbered in the middle of the arena plus 2 to 4 who got pushed in by the enemy. But they seemed to have had it pretty well covered in the beginning. There just were too many droids under Count Dookula's(pun intended) command.
