i was really dissapointed by the first two movies, hopefully the best part of this movie isnt the title. thats basically what i thought the title would be like, something involving sith. i just hope hayden christensen has improved his acting skills as well

) for getting the name right two years and two months before the official announcement in only the third post of the thread Episode III title suggestions, anyone?.

I love the name as well... it's a nice return to form, I think. I was never a big fan of the names for episodes one and two respectively.

This is the one people have been speculating since 1997, so I'm not surprised that there isn't quite the same wave of "Huh?" we saw with the announcements for The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. The announcement for Revenge of the Sith comes much earlier in advance of the film than was the case with the other two, but being Comic-Con weekend, it was timely.

I still think Episode III: The Passion of the Christ would have worked equally well.

Revenge of the Sith sounds GREAT!!! And i read in the newspaper the other day that Rowling had changed the title again to The Half A**ed Prince....well sthg like that. Don't ask what the asterixes are for cuz i dunno either....

I think its a really good title. It kind of tells you what will happen but nowhere near anything resembling details. I think its great but not better than Emprie Strikes BAck

Try 'destruction of the Sith Empire' and the ending of their Golden Age, near extermination on no less than two occassions, and years of propaganda directed against them.

The Sith Order. And the Sith Empire. Which are slightly different things.

IIRC, The Sith had a very advanced culture ruled by a person they called (you guessed it) the Dark Lord of the Sith. The Republic and the Jedi Knights destroyed this Empire during the Great Hyperspace wars.

Again, IIRC, only one Sith survived, and fled the sector, eventually dieing. A Dark Jedi eventually came across his ghost and learned the Sith Arts, and used them to found a new Sith Order. The jedi, supported by the republic, put them down, and again, only one survived.

The same thing happened again, a Jedi came across the ghost of this Sith and was corrupted to the Dark Side. He started a new new sith order, which eventaully collapsed due to infighting, leaving another sith as the lone survivor (Darth Bane).

At this point, Darth Bane figured out that there was a pattern at work here, and instituted the Rule of Two, which we all know and love.

So, in summary, the Revenge of the Sith is the downfall of the Republic and the destruction of the Jedi Order - just as the Jedi destroyed the first Empire and the Sith Order.

Edit: Of course I might be remembering this incorrectly, and a lot of it is EU anyway. But that's the gist of it.
