"Temporary" Venting Thread III

The old thread passed the 1000 reply-limit and has been closed. The original thread starter was (I think) Elfmaster XK.

The venting can continue here.

Well, venting.

Venting.
I have a really good shot at a director's job, but I can't take it because I'd kill the producer.

I wish the producer would win a long trip to somewhere nice during duration of production.

The situation is easily amendable. Kill the producer.

I am in total shock right now. I thought I had aced my math test... the problems were a breeze, I was getting answers that made logical sense, I was nailing every practice problem I tried before the test... There was -one- problem I couldn't figure out.

And I got a 35%. I missed 13 out of 20 problems.

So, I've officially failed the class, now. I, apparently, am just too stupid to understand math, even when I think I do. I wasted my entire summer busting my ass, and still failed, when I could've spent those hours working on piano, or taking remedial music theory courses that were being offered for -free-, but at the same time slot as my math.

So now I've failed this class three times. Go friggin' me.

Ultra bummer.

Loads of really smart people have a hard time doing maths. I'm sure you're one of them.

Do you have to pass this one or can you drop it?

I'm really sorry about that.

Thanks guys--I feel tons better today.

Yes, it is a class I need to pass... however, my sister's wonderful boyfriend told me about an online course I can probably take (which is apparently called the 'footballer's secret' ), which should translate to my course and it's apparently about the easiest form of algebra you can take.

So I'm gonna look into taking that maybe two semesters from now, assuming my college accepts it.

I remember thinking earlier this year, when Ireland managed to get a government on the last minute, how can one NOT manage to form a government with elected parties. Now we're in the same situation, it's even more pathetic. Sure, it's nice to see the Flemish politicians NOT cave in to the Waloons for once. But it is getting us nowhere. How absolutely pathetic is this. I've said it before and I see it confirmed time and time again: bloody stupid politicians.

I really needed this thread at 7:30 this morning. My supervisor (who is probably the best supervisor ever) is leaving the department. This has been getting me down for two months. Today, "they" announced who was to take his place. I couldn't be more shocked. I would have never guessed that they would hire this person, even though I knew he applied. It's a complete mistake. I have about ZIP confidence that this guy will be able to make my department fly--he can't even do the job he has well (he's a group-leader in another department). It's rediculous!!! I CANNOT believe how STUPID "they" are!!!! They're supposed to be the ones with the brains. How can they NOT SEE how DUMB this decision is??

...Anyway, I can see my professional life spiraling down the tubes. But, I must to note that I've been accepting more responsibilities and projects lately, so it might be possible to get outside the sphere of this new guy's influence before long.... It's just such a miserable mistake. I don't have much hope, though I'm mustering all the good thoughts and confidence and bright-outlook I can manage... It's not much. It's SUCH a STUPID decision to put this guy in this position.

So, apparently I have to pay an accompanist $140 a month to come to one of my voice lessons a week, and then to practice with him once a week. So about $500 extra a semester.

I love how I had all of the information I needed up front, about what being a music major was going to cost. Also how coordinated the voice program is. Yeah. These people have their program together. Not.

Argh. I'm just stressed out and wound up from the deluge of things I'm having to learn/memorize/figure out all at once. I'm also worried about how I'm going to find a job that'll work around my schedule, plus paying for school. I don't want to have to take out $30,000 in student loans to graduate.

I know. I have it amazingly good. I'm just wound up to my limit right about now.
