There is always a fire, and the hall is usually a quiet place for peace and thought, but on some days you may hear songs and tales.

Yes Barrelrider, you are correct. I will have to work hard to challenge you! The days for many songs and tales were called "high days". The fire is always there, as you mentioned, but little other light! Sounds very nice! Gandalf said you could hear many songs and tales "if you can keep awake"! I give myself 20 minutes.

Thank you, Lizra. Where did the hobbits dwell prior to their settling of the Shire in Eriador?

Hmmmmm, how about "the upper vales of Anduin, between the eaves of Greenwood the Great and the Misty Mountains".

Where do you think one of my favorite descriptions occured?

.......Frodo stood near the open door and watched the white chalky path turn into a little river of milk and go bubbling away down into the valley........

(silly, I know, but I can't resist)

The house of Tom Bombadil

"They had not made any definite plans, but had vaguely thought of going down to Crickhollow together first, and resting there a bit."

Yes Cirdan, rainy days are wonderful in the house of Tom Bombadil!. Too bad Frodo couldn't have stayed a little longer.

Yeah, it always seemed they had to leave the nice places too soon. I love the descriptions of the little places like the row of stones on the path to the dell on Weathertop. The combination of weather, terrain, and phase of the moon can almost pinpoint the location since each was unique.

Correct.
Ask away.

Sorry about the other quote, I don't think you'd have found it in the fellowship.

Yes, yes, I was looking once, twice, and thrice! But I'll save all I gleaned for future questions. The general info was there, but nothing worded exactly like that!

Wahine, You have to be the first to answer a question correctly, before you may ask a question!
