Wow, that is a toughie. I looked and looked. I will make an educated guess, however.
He fell on thick clover.

No, that isn't right. And it's in there. I can picture the quoted text in my mind right now. I've sort of got it memorized, but more as an image. It's when Shasta woke up the morning after their first ride and he's sore. Bree said, "It's not the falls. You couldn't have fallen more than a dozen times last night, and the only one that might have been nasty was broken by ___________ ." (here he may or may not interject that it must have been a pleasure to fall on what he fell on... I can't recall, but it seems like it was in there) "No, it's the riding that comes hard at first."
Okay, so that may not be an EXACT quote, but look it up and you'll find it's pretty darn close. Whaddaya mean, you LOOKED? Is that allowed?

Of course it's allowed! I spent a good deal of time thinking about it. And when I couldn't remember it, I had to, uh, use some help .
Second guess: sand.

I suppose you've come closest to the answer, Varnafinde. If you'll ask the next question ...

Gorse bush it is indeed. It's your turn, Princess!
Just for reference, this is the quote I got that from: "Ow, Bree," [Shasta] gasped. "I'm so sore. All over. I can hardly move." "Good morning, small one," said Bree. "I was afraid you might feel a bit stiff. It can't be the falls. You didn't have more than a dozen or so, and it was all lovely, soft springy turf that must have been almost a pleasure to fall on. And the only one that might have been nasty was broken by that gorse bush. No: it's the riding itself that comes hard at first. What about breakfast? I've had mine."

Next, then: What happened to Eustace when he was put forward to be sold as a slave?

Yeah... I was too. But I did remember it was in there somewhere!
Poor Eustace was dubbed "Sulky" and no one wanted to buy him as a slave, so he was thrown in for free with the other slaves and still no one wanted him as a two-for-one special.

Indeed.
And I must agree with Lewis that it might perhaps be worse not to be even wanted as a slave than to be sold as one ...

I would have to say that too. Poor Eustace!
How many steps led down to the Royal Treasury or whatever it was called at the Ruins of Cair Paravel in Prince Caspian?

Yessiree. Your turn, Hecty... I accidentally typed that, but I kind of like it. You're entitled to hate it if you like, Hector.

I have no idea what it is called in English, though I think the wacky professor (Magician's Nephew) called it 'stuff' if I translate it?

The King From Over The Sea?
Or was that his title?

Ah, ok. In the interest of moving along, I'll ask another question.
What was the name of the cabby's horse in The Magician's Nephew?

Alrighty to the Hecty or alrighty to your turn? I'll leave this one.. I know it but I feel like I've been selfish with the answers. I'll check again in a couple of days to keep it moving.
