Yikes!

I read the Hobbit in 4th grade. Later, my sister, (TheRingIsMine) was talking about some guy named Bard. I had no clue what she was talking about! I read that Thorin killed Smaug (spell???). Was i the only one who read this warped version? What happened? Will somebody please fill me in on this? Thanks!

Fire on the mountian shall find the Harp of Gold;

That's weird indeed, becuase I'm sure Tolkien didn't write that Thorin killed Smaug in the Hobbit. where did you bought that book, and how come your sister read that Bard killed it and you don't?

I think Fili meant he thought Thorin killed Smaug, not that that was what the book said.

Thorin didn't kill Bard nor Smaug.
Bard killed Smaug after Smaug atacked his village.

I'm with Lizra on this one, I think you've just got muddled - perhaps it was a while ago that you read the book and you just forgot the plot details?

nope. My sister read a different copy, cause we had to return the book to her friend. We bought an other version.

And no... that is what the book said. I think that someone had been messing with the story. A while later, my friends school did the hobbit for their play, and Thorin killed Smaug there too. Odd

Do you still have that book? If so, keep it! Maybe reread it to make sure it's a defective edition, and then it'll be worth a few bucks, I'd bet.

Or it may have been something like a counterfeit or something (The Fobbit) and it won't be worth much at all.

Yes, I know I'm the money-hoarding dragon-type and whatnot...

EDIT: neither seems very likely. I wonder why your book's so weird.

(I haven't been on this sight forever!) Could you get the book back and make sher that that is that it said? Scan it in or quote it if it is what you think it is, maybe you got the lines mixed up or you just got all confused.
