1. Why did anyone think there would be a musical?
2. Why on EARTH would they make a musical?
3. Was it neccessary to create a forum for 1 post? :P

Wow... another media outlet that will tarnish the LOTR... I hope this doesn't happen...

If anything is happening I hope it's MGM handing over "The Hobbit" rights to New Line...

If you change the menu on the forum page from 100 days to beginning then you'll see more threads about this.

Nope it's not. And I don't think a musical would be that bad.

I mean, "Camelot" worked as a musical. There were only three main characters, but that's not the point.

I also saw a play of "The Hobbit" and I thought it was great. Of course, it didn't make sense to anyone who didn't read the book first, but that's not the point either.

I think a musical adaptation is the ultimate simplification of a book. But it can work. And it's not like Tolkien doesn't already contain really great lyrics.

Nurvs, 3 main characters in LotR...

You might be right and I hope you're right... but I'm still wary of the whole idea.

I'm a lover of musicals, so I'll try to be optimistic (and still hope that it never comes out).

*sigh* I'm not going to be able to do any work in Japanese class today, cause I'll be too busy trying to figure out what a musical version would look like.

Yes there will be a musical. they have started rpoduction. it is being made right now as we speak and i heard itll come out nextt year. One good thing is that if it works well and lots of people see it then we could get a new rush of people and that would be cool. My only concern. How are they going to do Hobbits.

Or Elves? Or Balrogs? Or Nazgul on the Bird-things ? Or on horseback? Or Mount Doom? Or Moria? Or Caradhras? Or...

You get my point.

As a more recent arrival here, I've asked about this forum in the past as well. As TD says, you'll find that there were numerous other threads, but that the whole thing has been sort of inactive lately.

If I have this right, there was someone seriously hoping to do this musical and they formed a relationship with Entmoot... even paid the costs to keep the MB up for an entire year. This past relationship, and sponsorship assistance, are reasons why the ownership has remained committed to keeping this forum in place. After all, many things lie dormant for years, and then spring back to life...

"From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring!"

OK: so this is the full 411.

yes - as you can see from the front page description, this forum has about 60 threads and over 800 posts.

This forum is about the Musical which can be found on the Tolkien Trail webiste

http://www.tolkientrail.com/theoneringmusical/

There you can find the script, lyrics to songs, etc.

Topics like these keep coming up........ *sigh*

The creator of "The One Ring" Muisical goes by the username Hama or Hama1 here.

He paid for the Tolkien Trail and Entmoot's costs for a full year, or something like that beacause he was so thanful for all the support, hosting, and this forum. I wasn't going to say anything about this, but Valandil already mentioned it.

Basically, no matter how inactive this forum is, Ben won't get rid of it until Hama asks him to get rid of it.

This whole thing died because a different LOTR musical was written and got into gear before this one.

wow i read the synopsis, and that has to be one of the worst adaptations of tolkien ive ever seen, no offense. (ive read a summary of the original scripts of the lotr movies when they were originally going to be 2 movies and they were pretty bad too)

A musical? How... disappointing. I mean, that's harder than the movies- you have to have actors and singers- in one!
