What singer would you want in the part of...

What singer would you think the part of any character should be given to? It would be good if people didn't say popstars, more singers who have been in musicals before.

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Philip Quast or Anthony Warlow in the roles of Saruman and Gandalf, they've got those sort of deep, authoritive voices - a girl I have no idea of her name, but she played Éponine in the 10th Anniversary special of Les Misérables (I think she's Asian, but from Australia); maybe Michael Ball as...someone - an elf, maybe.

If Robert Plant had a part of an elf or something

i'd pay to see that!

OH YEAH!! Robert's a golden god.

Freddy Mercury might be good for, um, I dunno. he has an expressive voice but does it really fit any of the characters?

EDIT: oh my goodness, your avatar- both Zoso and the feather! brilliant.

You're thinking of Lea Salonga. She'd be good, she was in the OBC of Miss Saigon, I think. Don't quote me on that, though.

I wouldn't say no to Terrence Mann (OBC of The Scarlet Pimpernel) -- he's got a nice, deep voice. Brian Stokes Mitchell is another one.

Oh, and Bernadette Peters... Galadriel, you think?
