Project Nortmoor

Cast members from the Middle-earth movies, sir Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman among them, have started a crowd-funding initiative, Project Northmoor, to buy the house in which Tolkien wrote the Hobbit.

The project seeks to buy and adapt the house into a first Tolkien Center.

Want to own a bit of Tolkien's house? Now's your chance.

Unortunately, they didn't make it (read here about it), but instead

So now they have The Oxford Centre for Fantasy instead, doing some of the same things only not at the desired venue.

They seem to be cooperating with some of the Oxford University Colleges. I'll sign up for the newsletter to see what happens.

Oh, that's too bad. But I think it was a wise decision to include the other Inklings in the scope of their new Centre. They'll have a much wider audience than just Tolkien.

I signed up for their newsletter and have been receiving it for the last few months.
They do have some activities, both physical and online. From Norway I don't have much of a chance to join any physical events, but I like keeping in touch with them.
