my favourite chracter is lupin..at first i thought he was a bad chracter but then he became one of favourites because of his loyalty and honesty...very magical indeed

I didn't know where to ask this, so I put it here:
How is the name Hermione pronounced? (I have never read the books or seen the movies) I thought it was
her-mee-OWN or HER-mee-own, but my sister-in-law and mother-in-law said it's her-MOY-nee, because that's how it was pronounced on the books on tape. I like the name, but I prefer it the way I thought it was, it just sounds prettier. It was odd to me that although it is spelled "io" the sound would be "oy."

Oh, that's pretty -- I figured the e at the end is pronounced after reading someone's misspelling of the name (that's what reminded me of the question). I realized why I thought it was pronounced the way I thought -- because of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream. But I like it the way you say it. (herMOYnee reminds me of the word "moile." Eeew

).

Edit: Aha! I just realized why they thought it was OY! It is herMYonee, but on the book on tape I bet it is a Brit reading, and they'd have that oyish sound as they said the "my" sound! So to the ears of Americans it would sound like that. A mystery solved!

After reading HP 5, I have to add Tonks the top of my list. I can relate so much....I am quite a klutz.
