ballantine comic book style version, illustrated by david wenzel

Has anyone seen the comic book version of The Hobbit printed by Ballantine and illustrated by David Wenzel? I thought it was quite good. I feel it depicted the elves much better than the animated movie did. Also, they include Beorn, which is skipped over in the movie. Does anyone else have any comments on this version?

I've seen it in the store. It looks cool, but I haven't bought it.

Maybe now that it's in comic book format some of my non-reader friends can finally get through The Hobbit!

well i got it when i was too young to read it, but I had seen teh animations. I was surprised that Gollum wasn't the mutated frog creature depicted in the movies. Also I hadnt run across Beorn at all, since that wasnt in the movie either.

I got it from my local library... It was pretty well done, in general.

I found Bilbo's haircut... interesting...
but yeah, for someone who hates comic books, I enjoyed it.

why is everything in... spanish?

That is, on reflection, not a happy sentence.

I just glanced at it today while I was at the store, but it looked pretty well done for a comic book.

bmilder, by "in the store" do you mean a comic book store - I don't frequent those places - or a regular old bookstore like Borders? Thanks.

I just saw it the other day at a regular bookstore. It's not just at comic places.

I have been a comic collector

and have the original multiple edition version of The Hobbit in GRAPHIC NOVEL format as well as single edition.
I also have a second version that I have been reading to my 4 year old son as a bed time story for quite some time now.
He loves it.
It's an excellent rendition.

I've seen it in bookshops and it looks pretty good, the pictures are well drawn and it's certainly not a children's version.
