Presumably, aslo, it was at this time the the various races and sub races became particularly associated with a prefered weapon and garnered nicknames from them.
Sword Elves = Noldor
Spear Elves = Vanyar
Axe Elves = Sindar
Bow Elves = Nandor or Laequendi
