Then again, what better way to assure that no one ever attempts to write sequels to Jo's creation.

I'm going to copy this to this page, since it was the last one on the other page and I don't know if people were seeing it:

I'm not dredging this thread for no reason -- I just thought it might be good to revive it for further use about character deaths. But first may I give props to Lizra and Haradrim for correctly predicting D'dore's death specifically in book 6.

There was a recent Entertainment Weekly article giving odds for character deaths. I thought it might be fun to take a character every few days and let everyone give their odds of that character dying in either book 7, not including the epilogue, which I think we can assume will take place after the plot action, and will basically serve to tell us what happens to people after "the end."

I think the easiest way is for me to start, and give my prediction of how likely it is that this character will die as a percentage. Then others can say what they think and why. Then after a few days, we can give another character, given either by me or someone else if I'm not around. We can do all the characters in the books. It'll help pass the time until the next one comes out.

I guess I'll start out with the original subject of the thread and say: Harry.

I personally give Harry, oh, let's say an 80% chance of surviving book 7.

A couple of reasons for the good chance:
He's the main character.
It wouldn't feel right to end the book without him.

Why I allow for the possibility that he might not:
The rumors, which were started by JKR herself in an interview.
Probably just teasing, but you never know.

You're in need of some serious help from Delores Umbrage.

You know, I had a real-life Umbridge... so similar, upto the point where she banned our 'illegal' chess club. And tried to get students to spy on each other. And tried to become the Headmistress.Oooh, I hated her, and naturally, after Book 5, Umbridge became her permanent nickname.

sadly, no. But there were compensations... Once, she began arguing with my Biology teacher (and funnily enough, she was a McGonagall... in fact, more a McGonagall than the other one was an Umbridge, I always see her face when I read MsGonagall, although our one was a friendlier soul), and den came into class, having a tantrum, and crying like anything, such a sweet memory!

Harry cannot die, from a novel stand-point. Plot-wise, it doesn't look good, but think how stupid book seven would be if Harry bought it. It would end like this:

As the third Crucio curse hit him, Harry dropped his wand. Voldemort laughed a high-pitched, evil laugh. "No," Harry said, desperately reaching for his wand, but it was too late. "Nooo--"

THE END

Yeah, ain't gonna happen.

And then Harry [insert some form of magical attack/bang], ending his own life, but destroying Voldemort as well.

THE END

How about this:

Voldemort's dead body lay before Harry, but he knew his task was not over yet. He knew any delay could rob him of his resolution, so pulling the lifeless body of Lord Voldemort, he turned, faced the Veil... and walked straight through.

Luna Lovegood always said she could hear Harry through the veil (also a few venomous mutterings from old Voldy) but no one believed her... after all, she believed such a load of fantastic rubbish.

The End.

P.S. told you neither would live while the other survived! Love, Jo.

P.P.S. last word of the book - SCAR.

Wordy, eh? I should start writing fanfiction

My boss' wife recently told me that she had seen an interview with JK Rowling where she hinted at Harry's fate...Ithink he will "die" but somehow or other, not die.
