Quick question before I post. Are we all on the Council or just certain people?

I guess Gollum was prowling around this area at the time, wasn't he?

Let's for the sake of an easy introduction, have her invited for this Council session. Maybe she has something important to tell them? Could be anything, a report of a strange incident, or perhaps sightings of a hungry bear or other dangerous predator, maybe information that the travelling merchants will be later as part of the river upstream is flooded. Lots of possibilities. According to the LoTR appendices, not for another year or two.

"gold couldn't speed up the time it would take to get everything done"
Galadhlin is wrong about that, of course. With gold, you can hire more people, to get things done more quickly. But he didn't think along those lines. Bard will appear later - probably with his personal assistant

It's nice to see Elves that don't think like Men. It's something I constantly have to think about when role playing, it's not easy to do right.

I found more about Bard - or rather, basically the same in a new package - at http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Bard_the_Bowman.
But the picture of him from here is new to me - I googled images, and this was the nicest, not quite as grim as some of the others. So this is what I'm going to see him as. I tried to post a comment and ask permission, but it seems I would need to be a member of the site in order to post, so I'll just hope it's ok. Edit: Bard_the_bowman_by_vigshane The signature picture is of course very appropriate in this thread, but will it be too disruptive everywhere else? Like, say, in Journeys? Is it possible to choose whether to include the whole signature or not, and to edit it away in some old posts?

Signature is always visible, as far as I know. I don't think it can be alternated in any way.

Go Advanced - then go to Additional Options. Under Miscellaneous Options you can choose not to show your signature (the default is to show it). Works for Advanced Editing, too. I often use the Quick Reply, where it's not an option - and even when I go Advanced, I would usually have to scroll down to find it, which I usually don't do. Perhaps I should edit it away from my Journeys posts - seeing how easy it is?

I haven't forgotten about the story - Bard and Sanders are working on their intro post, and either Tessar or I will post it when it is finished.

I'm waiting for Tessar to PM me about it.
He hasn't posted much lately, though, has he? He's probably busy with his exams ... About signatures: Even the Quick Reply does have the option for showing your signature.

I apologize for vanishing!!! Between exams, work, teaching, and summer school I've been busy and also a number of family issues have clustered up together and reared their ugly heads.
But I should be back now. Varna: I cannot apologize enough for leaving you hanging like this. Let me have a day or two to catch up and I'll be all set. |

Great to hear from you again, Tessar!
In the meantime, there has been other RP development - Aikanaro turned up at a different board (where I first got to know her, eight years ago), and I asked her whether she would come back here to "Other Worlds Than These" as well. She did, and is now posting here again (And it's my turn to post in that RP now ...) I look forward to getting your input for our post

Tessar was around recently - but has he disappeared again?

Looks like he did a runner. Maybe we'll have to hunt him down...

I'm a bit stuck without him - and I do want to get this story moving. Moving slowly isn't necessarily bad, but it should at least be on the move ...
