Tom Bombadil Barrow Sowrds and the Witchking

In the book the hobbits get lost in the Barrow Downs. They are then rescued by Tom Bombadil who gives them sorwds from the Barrow where Frodo was trapped. The sowrds are really old and they have ruins which make themvery dangerous to enemies.

When Frodo is attacked on Weathertop he stabs the Witchking with his sorwd from the Barrow Downs. The Witchking in unhurt.

When Merry stabs the Witch King on the Pelanor Fields, he deals a fatal blow also using a sowrd from the Barrow Downs.

Does anyone know why this was?

I know. Because at the Weathertop Frodo only stabbed the Witch-Kings cloak. It can't be fatal to anyone to have one's garments damaged.

Also ---> Who says that the swords were identical? Sure, they came from the same place, but mayhaps one was made by some superly magical smith, and another was made by some average joe. Why not?

Sure, you can say that.

You didn't have my college roommate. Damage to her garments was fatal.

I hope not to you?

I bet the Witch-King was not too pleased either, however he had a spare cloak
