I loved the Elves in the Hobbit! Especially the one that says "To Battle!" in that really odd voice. I love imitating it.

*snerk* The Tra la la laaly song... It's not so bad when you read it in the book. It's just silly then. But we had to perform it. When you are on stage and surrounded by people who are normally your friends dressed in elf costumes and singing the Tra la la lally song it's frighteningly disturbing, especially when you're supposed to be Elrond who, besides Thranduil, is the only sane elf in that entire book. In the Hobbit you either have hyperactive singing elves or drunken singing elves, I can see how you would find them frightening.

Wouldn't you become strange and scary if you had to live all your life in a wood - and we are talking of an immortal life. That's looooooong.
Yeah, maybe they were sane for the first couple of millennia, but by the Hobbit they had cracked.

I agree with Willow Oran, Elrond and Tharanduil are the only sane elves in the entire story.

The best things in life are.....scary? Embrace the madness! The world is insane (and going to hell with the humans) anyway! Maybe those drunk, (or) "high" elves are just dealing with it! You know, you do a couple hundred years of "scary" before throwing in the lembas and deciding to split the ME scene?

Lol, "high elves". But yeah, they are a bit freaky. Of course, they're probably like that because the Hobbit took place a while before LOTR, and the Elves didn't know they would soon have to leave Middle-earth.

They are a different kind of elves. Like how Rivendell and Lothlorien elves are different.

RivenDELL and Lothlorien Elves are not different. Where they live does not matter. What matters is whether they are Avari or Eldar, and to which subgroup of the two they belong.

They are different in the way they act. I know they are mostly the same but the Lothlorien elfs live in trees and they have a little different style. That's all really because your right but that is not what I ment.

I think GW is right; The elves in Lothlorine and in Rivendell are almost the same - more similar then the men in Rohan and in Gondor. The different is not b their behavier, it's the roots - from where they came from - were they Teleri, Noldor or Vanyar. and there are some subgroups in the teleri and the noldor... that is the main difference, and from this one they bahave as they behave.

Differnt times...maybe the seventies...

But Legolas wasn't like that. They were elves of Mirkwood right? So they're not all always different.
