It's ofen said that Lucas copied from Tolkien for Star Wars, but has anyone noticed that maybe he copied a lot from Dune too? Think about it (desert planets, messiahs, spice/force, dead fathers, ...).

I noticed a lot of similarities between Dune and SW, so yeah, I think he drew some inspiration from it.

I've only seen comparisions of Star Wars to the Lord of the Rings, not Dune!

I've seen both.

And as for Dune: a lot of that comes from Lawrence of Arabia!
