oh my cake is almost done. oh yeah, oh yeah. happy birthday again!!! (i know i already said that on the happy birthday thread...) i was at quiz bowl practice earlier and they asked "what book by J.R.R. Tolkien is subtitled "there and back again"? and i didn't even get it in time!! noooo!!!!! but i did inform everyone that is was bilbo's (and frodo but he isnt in the hobbit) birthday. i got weird looks and they were all like, "really? how'd you know that?" anyway i thought there might be a tolkien question because it's the birthday but it didnt have anything to do with that...anyway, happy birthday!!!!!

I remembered, but it's September 23 here now. I'll still keep it in my sig for another day. I would of had some cake, but there was none in the house. I told my sister (who's just seen the movie) that it was Frodo's birthday. She thought I meant Elijah Wood and she asked how old he was and I said he was dead. She thought I meant Elijah Wood was dead. Ha ha!

Yes, I'm in Australia too but I'm sort of having a two-day celebration. After all, it's still yesterday in most of the world, so I'll keep partying! Any excuse will do!
What (if anything) did you do to celebrate? I made a cake (while watching the movie - It's the book forum! I shouldn't say that!) , lit my mushroom-shaped candle, sang 'Happy Birthday' and, the Hobbit Day Anthem, 'The Road Goes Ever On And On'.
Happy Hobbit Day everyone! And Happy Birthday Bilbo and Frodo!
Lanelf.

oh my gosh that was good cake. i didn't know how many candles to put...it would be a lot with one per year, and it just plain would not work at all. so i had two candles. one for each, both meaning "really really old" if you count the years between the third age and now which is...a lot i guess. anyway! well i took the left over cake to school today and shared it with my homies. one of them knew what it was for but thats only because of the fact that i mentioned it yesterday at quiz bowl. other than that, yesteday i had tea with the cake also, and since i didnt have a speech (hey it's not my birthday) i just shared the quote i like about liking people and not liking people and whatever. then my mom my brother and i sang happy birthday. my mom actually thought it was a good idea to celebrate characters' birthdays and (being a teacher and all) thought up all kinds of ideas for school. that was my party this year. i'll have to plan better next year.

To be unnecessarily pedantic their birthday is actually September 14 by our calendar (the Hobbit's calendar was slightly different from ours) but if anyone would appreciate an extra birthday it would be a Hobbit! Happy Hobbit Day!

oh ya i know, only i thought it was the 13th...oh well. if you noticed, i posted in the happy birthday thread about this very thing. in fact, i did have two parties. only the thing is, one of them was very ill-prepared and consisted primarily of a toast.

Happy Hobbit day, eh? Time for a banquet. I have a "Hobbit cookbook", written in Orkish.
