He looks kinda old for "Prince Caspian" He oughta be perfect for "...Dawn Treader" though.

it's a bit easier to make a youthful looking adult, look 13, than to take a 13 year old and then make him an adult for the next film - either way you have the same issue, unless they intend waiting ...

I agree, and it's better to have a good 25-year-old actor who looks fairly young than a 13-year-old who can't act, like they had in the early Harry Potter films.

Hmm, interesting. And I agree, it's easier to make the fellow look younger, so long as he can act. And he can!

As for the Dynastic nightmare....

The set up rather reminds me of the Persian ShahhanShah, or King of Kings. Peter is high king, which is like our high Shah, of true bloodline. His brother and sisters are like the lesser kings and queens, that ruled the provinces and conquered areas. They would indeed be ultimate powers in their own chunk of the empire, but in matters that pretained to the entirety of the empire, they would have to deffer to the high king, which, probably they would also be related to through political marriages.

In some cases, if the natural bloodline of a conquered area died and had no heir or if they would come in to serious coup-de-ta, the Shah would probably send one of his nearest relations (brothers, sisters, Uncle, aunt type) to go and become a king or queen and rule that province/nation under him. That ought to explain C.S.L's strange choice, I do believe he picked that part up from our traditions. Because, from my point of view, it is spookily similar.

Good point. and of course the acting ability is a rather good thing to have. Not familiar with this Barnes guy, is he famous over there across the pond?

Don't think so, I've never heard of him. He doesn't seem to have been in anything big.

I guess only time will tell. I've never heard of this kid, so we'll see how he is as Caspian.

For some reason I kept picturing the guy that played Eragon as Caspian. *shrugs*

Let's hope it is better than the first disaster.

Rather anyone other than Disney, too, while we are at it!

I believe it was actually Walden, and Disney just did the marketing.

BB, I asked because there's a character in some Terry Pratchett books called Captain Carrot, and I thought CC in the welcoming thread needed welcoming so that's why I asked. You tricked me. (maybe we should go start up the Terry Pratchett thread! )

According to a report here on the audition scenes used for Caspian:

Quote:
The second scene was actually a blend of an edited scene from the book, and an added scene for the movie. Susan is attempting to train the old Narnians in archery (and failing miserably), when Caspian comes along and tries to show off his own skills. Susan puts him up to a challenge, which he quickly and a bit smugly accepts, and then gets to show him up when he doesn’t perform... Their dialogue is very flirty, very catty. Susan does not like Caspian’s ego, despite his good intentions and clearly golden heart, but in the end, there winds up being a very flirtatious vibe between the two. I don’t think there is going to be some big romance, but judging by the portion of the script I read, there will definitely be a flirtation

Interesting..I don't really see how they're going to have time for something so extraneous, theres a lot of stuff happening in Prince Caspian everything moves pretty fast. I hope they're not buthering the original PC won't be too hard to keep accurate and still have an interesting movie.

It suggests to me that this archery contest replaces the one Susan has with Trumpkin early on in the book, so maybe they're planning to compress the long section where Trumpkin meets the children and takes them to Caspian into something shorter.

That will kind of suck, cause then we won't really get to know Trumpkin...of course this is all purely speculatory.
