The Valheru and the "mad gods" (later books spoilers)

The Valheru seemed pretty cool early on, as masters of the universe. But the "revelation" that it was all caused by some nonsentient being out there that can't be stopped seems kind of dumb. The fact that even the mighty Valheru were puppets to this "mad god" is crazy, and the fact that Pug and his band mount a quest to stop this being at the end of the Serpentwar Saga is ludicrous. I don't remember the exact details, but it seemed that every other book the enemy turned out to be controlling the one before. First it was the moredhel, but it turns out the Pantathians were controlling them, who were in turned controlled by the Valheru... who were in turn controlled by the Mad God??! Do you think Pug's band will have any success in combatting it?

It annoyed me because it made everything they had been doing before seem kind of pointless. And it seems like he's not just revealing higher manipulators, he's changing his mind. But of course I'm sure they'll find some way to defeat it.
