If you owned your own magic sword in Middle Earth,what would you call it ?

If you were in possession of your own special magic sword in the Middle
Earth universe, what creatively witty, cool (serious or humorous) name/s
would you give it, if you had to ? It can't be Excalibur, or any names
already in use in The Hobbit and LOTR trilogy books, but it's fine if
any name is taken from another fantasy world you greatly admire.

I'll claim Rhindon - the sword of High King Peter of Narnia.

Moved to Middle-earth forum.

I've always quite liked Caliburn, which is the far lesser known latinised name of the sword later known as Excalibur.

Another one I've always been partial to is Tyrfing, the magical sword featuring in the Hervarar-saga (I think from the Edda). Impervious to rust, and able to cut through pretty much anything, but cursed by its makers to kill everytime it is drawn. I've named my cat after it, because I liked the name so much. (And his nails are quite sharp.)

Shouldn't it be Perianrist, by the way? I thought the 'c' was part of the 'orc', not the cleaving part, but then again, my knowledge of the Elven languages is pretty weak.

Both parts have a 'c' - but the letters are not doubled in the final result.

You mean the one that you had so much trouble "handling" in the wraith game?

The chatterbox sword

Earniel - you were right about "C" - well done. It should have been "Perianrist", indeed

Maybe it's not as authoritative (I've found it so handy), but in Ruth Noel's book: The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-Earth ;

cleaver = crist, grist, kris, hyando

Looking up those different versions;

crist, grist, kris = cleaver (Sindarin)

hyando - isn't listed the other way. Is that Quenya?

*** btw - I've always wanted to know... which form did the Elves use for 'cleavage'?: 'cristage'? 'hyando-wo-wo'? ***

With a shield called MERCY?

"Mercy triumphs over judgment" James 2:13

Well...I would consider naming the shield, "mercy for the repentant." Since the shield would be protecting me, that would make perfect sense.

Another good name for a sword would be "Patience."

I am your king, you owe me your feality...oh rebelious generation.

But crownless, again...shall be king.
