Google Desktop Search

I noticed a new feature of Google's today- Google Desktop Search. It allows you to search your computer into documents, emails, IM's- just type words that you can find in the file and it'll display the results. For me this is a godsend since now I don't have to waste time looking for some obscure reference to something in one of Eärniel's emails. No matter how well I organise my computer it still takes ages to find some things.

yes, it is a great function.
but some of the ineternet security guys says it allows you to search other peoples computers to find documents. and i don't think that is a very smart thing. but i don't know if i is possible, though.

it was on a norwegian website, dagbladet.no.
sorry.
i got it wrong. what they said, was:
if it is running, it will scann everything in outlook, and it will also scann instant messeg. so, if you are geting an confidential mail, and someone in your family will read it they can simply start the program and get it.
so if you use a inetrnet cafe, you better check if it's runing, because, if it is, it will read your mails and things like that.

O.o

Does this mean I'm going to have to pay close attention to just what I write in those mails?

Or should I just provide you with an index in the future?
