Hello, just randomly checking in. Wow -- it says I last logged in January 2019!
Glad to see that we still have some activity, though obviously not nearly as much as in years past.

And pretty weird to now be a 30-something, in the workforce for about 11 years..... I joined this community when I was in the 6th grade. And I held my own in discussions with adults -- or so I thought at the time, anyway. ;P

I'm the website founder's younger brother, for those who don't know me.

I'll take a look around, maybe contribute to some posts. Would be nice to start some new conversations!

Hello, my name is Michelle and I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to anyone who had to put up with me 20 years ago when I was on this forum as a teenager.

Last week I watched Fellowship of the Ring for the first time in ages and I had the strongest sense memory of being on this forum as a child. It was only when I watched Two Towers this week that I remembered what it was called. And thanks to me never changing my e-mail address since I first signed up I was able to recover my password and see all my old posts.

Turns out - I was a moron when I was 16.

My username was Play Girl (oh god??!?!) I think in part because this was when Playboy was marketing itself to teen girls with stationary sets with folders and binders (gross, how did that get past anyone?). I’m sure it helped everyone on the forum take me /very seriously/. My top two posts are about how Frodo and Sam were gay for each other and how sexy I thought Snape was. Ahhhh, the cringe!!!!! I did not understand proper forum etiquette at all.

I do have very fond memories of this place, it is in the foundation of my internet experience. The wild theories about Balrogs wearing bedroom slippers, how mad everyone got when the Elves turned up at Helms Deep and the ring went to Osgiliath in the second movie. (Are people still annoyed about that? Are they looking forward to the Amazon series “correcting” the movies mistakes?) And generally, just my first exposure to fandom.

So a big thank you to everyone who put up with me back then. I can’t wait to see what memories come back when I watch Return of the King next week.

Don't worry about the youthful transgressions. So many of us had growing up to do.
