Entering A New World

For those of you who have read A Wrinkle in Time, it talks of travel through the fifth dimension. Considering how science and technology is developing so quickly, there might be a way soon to travel by wrinkling and enter this middle earth that we know so well. Knowledge from the books would help us on, but by being a human, there would be many dangers to face. To begin: You are thrust upward and though you struggle intensely, you cannot control your body. Your eyes are shut and your legs are bound together and they remain that way until you make a rough landine on the ground. But this isn't any old ground, it's the ground of a unmistakeable hobbit's home with it's twisting tunnel-like shape and order. Now that you're here, you must learn to live a normal life in this abnormal world and use your learnings from the tolkien books to navigate around the world and create a hom efor yourself.

I sat there dazed for a moment. Of course, I had ment to arrive here but I had had no idea of the problems of wrinkling through space and time. I had been reading a book on Elvish before I got here and had it with me. You never know when a new language could be handy. I had prepared for the trip and had trail rations, books, and a first aid kit, but everything seemed slightly different as though it had changed to fit into the place I was in, and of course, books that don't exist here don't fit in. My book was empty and I would have to use my memory for elvish. I placed the book into my sack just in case and once I had regained complete strength, I left the hobbit hole. Going in might prove a problem.

ic: Merry Brandybuck, a young Hobbit with a mop of sandy-brown hair and laughing green eyes, ran outside. He had heard a sort of strange sound, somewhat like a thump, and being the curious Hobbit he was, he went to investigate.

To his surprise, one of the Big People was sitting on the ground. "Um, hullo there," he said uncertianly. "Can I help you?"

Linda stood up and examined her surroundings, she saw smoke rings in the distance and the clear outline of a figure by the river. It felt like she was living in the quotes of a book. Linda wndered up t the river and provd her thoughts correct. She was in the first chapter of the Fellowship Of The Ring and Gandalf was smoking by the river. She could almost recall the exact sentance this scene came from. Presuming that this information was correct, Frodo would soon start on his journey. If Linda could replace one of the members of the Fellowship, she could make her way, which she couldn't do on her own, to a perfect place in Middle earth to live in and help for a while so the quest wouldn't fail. Then she could return to her house with friends and a respectable name for herself.

ic: Merry followed the strange person, who he figured must be deaf, to the Water. To the Hobbit's surprise, Gandalf was sitting on the riverbank, smoking. He hesitated, Gandalf tended to scare Merry, mostly because he and his friend, Pippin, were making mischeif most of the time.

Linda continued walking but was aware of her senses lessening. The smell of smoke covered up anything else she would be able to smell and she knew it was putting her in danger, but she was strangel attracted to Gandalf, perhaps to see if he looked how she imagined him, and couldn't leave. Perhaps, an itemshe had would keep her out of danger and allow her to remain here, but her items were useless in this new world, a notebook, a quill, and a box that used to beher laptop. But if she found anything here she could use, she would store it in the laptop/box.
