Strider elves

I was thinking, and a question came to my mind. If legolas is the prince of mirkwood, and in the hobbit the elf king of mirkwood, do you think that that was legolas' dad?

That's right, Thranduil king of Mirkwood was Legolas' dada.

Yes, though in the Hobbit I don't think they ever mention the king as Thranduil.

I wonder, if J.R.R. Tolkien had already written LOTR, would he have put Legolas in The Hobbit?

Of course. Legolas had been around for a while and was probably a veteran goblin and spider fighter. In LOTR when the three hunters enter Fangorn Forest he says:
"It is old, very old," said the Elf. "So old that almost I feel young again, as I have not felt since I journeyed with you children. It is old and full of memory. I could have been happy here, If I had come in days of peace."

That must be where Legolas became familiar with Dwarves. He probably met Thorin and party when they were in Mirkwood. It may have helped plant some seeds of understanding that later assisted in developing his friendship with Gimli.

That is such a cool thought: that Bilbo might have seen Legolas in the elf-king's halls. The immortality of the elves and their changelessness is such a neat tie between The Sil, and The Hobbit, and LOTR. Hats off to Tolkien (yet again!!).. or hoods, if you prefer.

I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found

Forgive me for disagreeing about the changelessness of the elves but I've read the Hobbit, the Silmarillion, and the Lord of the rings and I find an almost entirely different description of them. In the Hobbit they are very happy and gleeful, whereas in the Silmarillion they are grim and at many times melancholly. I admit they were at ceaseless war in the Sil. but this doesn't convey their changelessness.
