P.S. Do you notice all the major conflicts in Middle Earth were about Jewlery?
Actually, all the major plot development in middle earth seems to have been about shiny stuff.

The major battle was at Minas Tirith/the Pelennor Fields, but there were also other battles in places like Mirkwood, Lothlorien, Dale, the Lonely Mountain etc. The people in those places were to busy saving themselves to come to Gondor's aid.

By the way, does anyone know where I can find more about the attacks on Lorien, I was always curious what really happened there?

There is some general, and somewhat confusing, additional information on Galadriel, Celeborn, and Lorien in general in UT, but I don't think much specifically on the WOTR. Perhaps in the HoMe series? I haven't read much of them.
