The Denmark Blasted Out of the World Cup By A Machine-Like Japan.

Denmark was the only Nordic country participating the World Cup having defeated Sweden in an earlier match. At least, I thought, there was one team one could route for.

But, yesterday that hope was definitely dashed by Japan when they defeated a tired-looking Denmark. The only Danish goal came after an almost missed penelty kick, when the Dane succeeded in nudging the return back into the goal.

The Netherlands, Germany and Spain could be the only European teams worth left routing for.

In other words, you support the Dutch over the Slovakians and the Germans over the English, since they're pitched against each other.

And there have been plenty teams besides Denmark and even besides the other European teams, for a Swede to cheer on. Latin-American teams for instance? And I remember seeing this campaign that aimed to gather as many Swedish supporters as possible for Cameroon Samuel Eto'o ftw!

Too bad about our Danish neighbours though, but Japan was too good. Just look at those two free kick goals

You are quite right. I shouldnt write off England just yet. Let's hope for a big comeback - unfortunately at the expense of a German defeat.

Yeah, it was quite a horrific match to watch, espcially for a dane. It was hard to belive they actually wanted to win, but that is what you get when some of the key players have suffered from injuries and the other half are old and/or not good enough to play for their respective clubs.

It hurts to say it, but Japan deserved to win

... has the dust settled?

Wow. German efficiency at its best. That's how England should have played.

A couple of years back they were testing a goal camera system in the German Bundesliga, supposedly with the World Cup final of '66 fresh in memory. I wonder if not Lampard's "ghost goal" just ripped away all of their motivation to actually finish and employ the system, who knows?

Back luck BB, I almost feel sorry for you. However, the mirth is getting the better of me. Humped, robbed AND they were garbage.

What a useless bunch of overpaid tools!

Some good emails flying around this morning:

Large parts of Northern England are expected to experience flash floods in the next 24 hours due to people in Scotland pishing themselves.

On return, the England team will now board a flight destined to land at Glasgow Airport as that way they will be guaranteed a heroes welcome.

Spain didn't look great yesterday (although they did better than Brazil against the same opposition), and England made Germany look better than they are. Holland have yet to play against a good side.

Could be an all-South America semi-final lineup.

The uniforms are awful *sigh* They look cheap, with the numbers pasted on with scotch tape.

I couldn't care less about it Just happened to catch a few minutes yesterday as my friend's husband is an avid watcher. That's when I noticed the awful uniforms.
Thanks though. Sunday will see a lot of orange I think.
