My grandmother broke her wrist and hurt her hip after falling. She is in the hospital now.

That's sad about your grandmother, Mari. Breaking a wrist is painful. I haven't experienced it myself, but a friend of mine once did that. She was screaming bloody murder!

What's the definition of "breaks"?
Probably when part or all of Tessar's computer stops working to the point that it becomes bad. But that's based on my definition of "breaks".

If something doesn't work up to 100%, it might not be irritating. If it's down to the point that it becomes irritating, that's when I consider something broken.

By "breaks" I mean when something expensive to repair that is essential to my everyday usage of the laptop stops working... So if the mousebar totally stopped working that wouldn't be enough, because I can just switch it to a 'tap click' on the movement pad. I basically mean if the screen starts flickering and can't be stopped, or some internal component like the ram or something just stops working.

Oh, that's the ailment my old machine was suffering from. Nearly drove me insane until I got my new laptop last month.

The trick is to time your blinking to the screen's flickers so that it's like you don't even notice it!!!

Yep, it works until the pain from the lactic acid accumulation in your eyelids gets unbearable

Sorry to hear that, Mari I hope she feels better soon! I'm not a grandma yet, but I'm 50, and falls aren't such a simple thing as one gets older! I hope at least it's not her dominant hand that's broken. Unfortunately, my injured-and-soon-to-have-surgery shoulder is on my dominant side

Unfortunately it is. And she's got arthritis in the other wrist. So far the main problem appears to be the pains she has in her hip. She gets so nauseous every time she moves.
I hope your revalidation after the surgery goes well and without too much pain (though I suppose it can't be painless.)
Is your foot now completely up and running again? At least that would be a blessing.

Music theory papers can bite me. Seriously!!! I don't think I have ever spent so many hours writing FOUR PARAGRAPHS before, not to mention the time it took to analyze the piece in the first place. GAAAAAAAAAH!!!

And now I have NO IDEA how to write an introduction or conclusion. How do you write a music theory paper introduction? "This is a really boring paper about something that the guy who wrote this piece probably wasn't even thinking of when he wrote it. I am relatively certain that Haydn didn't care that he was writing a number of secondary dominant chords which, unsurprisingly enough, DID indeed resolve to their dominant chords! I will also discuss how he wrote a coda. HOORAY FOR HAYDN!!!"

... In conclusion... In conclusion I will NOT use the words 'in conclusion' in the conclusion of my paper.

A summary is also a conclusion and for an introduction you can just briefly spell out what you are going to do below.

That's basically what I did, but it feels dumb because I basically just said, "This is what I will look at in this paper. This is what I will look at in detail." Which I know is basically correct but... it annoys me. >.<

Not a vent, but - I just had a call from my dad and he's not coming home because he needs to spend the night in hospital. Apparently it's 'for observation' so I'm really hoping it's not anything serious, but I'm still rather worried.

No wonder you're worried, Aika *hugs*
I hope it's nothing serious, either. I met him once - he's a nice man.

Thanks, Mari and Varna. *hugs*

I've had an update - apparently he was hit in the eye by a nail when he was at work. He might need surgery, but the doctors can't quite tell yet. He can see out of the eye alright, though, which is a good sign, as far as these things go.

Still hoping he can come home tomorrow.

Whoa, that's scary! I hope he's okay.

My voice is totally messed up today, and the doctor thinks that it's not because of the antibiotic per-say, but because I was taking it on an empty stomach (as the instructions said to!! >.<). He thinks that irritated the lining of my throat.

Also he agreed the rash on my arm has not improved at all . So he put me on new antibiotics and gave me a different cream to put on it. *sigh*

My dad apparently gets the same thing, although his has never turned into a rash. It starts as a 'sore' spot on your arm, and he apparently has just always put it under hot, hot water and scrubbed the sore spot really well with soap... which is what you're supposed to do. I'd never heard of that before, so of course I've never done that. I've gotten the sore spots before but it's never actually turned into a rash till now. Oh well... live and learn.

Tessar, i just saw this after replying on the Singers' Thread. I'm glad it was not an allergic reaction to the meds! But all the same, i'm glad they put you on something else. I wouldn't take whatever-it-was again, though. If anyone prescribes it to you ever again, tell them what happened and ask for something else. It can't hurt to be safe!

Tessar, I hope your rash is clearing up with the new antibiotics (and that your voice is back to normal, too!)

My dad's out of hospital, and won't need surgery - in fact, the doctors said his eye is healing up much faster than they anticipated, so while he still has to go for a CAT scan next week, it seems like everything will be fine.
