James and Snape

I think we all have a good enough grasp on Book 5 in all ways but 1, Harry's dad and Snape. See I always thought that James would be this funny popular guy who didn't hold a grudge. But finding out what he was really like shocked me as much as it did Harry. And at first I kind of felt sorry for Snape but then I thought I don't really don't like him anyway and it was really funny so...Anyway what are you're veiws?

Snape is one of my favorite characters! But then again I also like James too....so it's a tough decision for me anywho, I felt sorry that James treated Snape the way he did.....especially after what Harry saw of Snapes memory when he did the shield curse on Snape when he was learning Occlumency.....I mean Snape didn't have a very good life at home

I was extremely surprised too. I always thought that snape was over exaggerating when he would talk about James. I really felt sorry for Snape, untill he called Lilly a mudblood.

I can't stand Snape. What James (and Sirius) did to Snape was horrible bullying, but Snape needs to grow up and stop getting his revenge on Harry for what James did. I hate Snape, evil power-abusing git

I'm glad they put this in, it makes Harry's parents less clean-cut than they previously seemed. Besides, a dark revelation from the past is always good.

I agree. Although I can't help but have a bit of respect for him for still sticking to rules and showing gratuitude. Sure he can take out points or bully students but he seems to have some inner self-respect that makes him want to still help Harry out since James also saved him once from Lupin when he turned wolfy underneath the Whomping Willow.

I did feel sorry for Snape in this book it clear hes the bright weirdo that no one really likes! Reminds me of a few people whom i went to school with (as do most harry potter characters)! James and Sirius were cleary the jocks of the school good looking clever and good at sports!

AS for Snape way of treating Harry i do understand that a lot it is clearly stated that Harry is pretty muchs james double so imgin that teaching the son of your nemisis of school and having the face of the boy who made you life a living hell beaming back at you all the time!

Also i think Snape of all the older charcter is the most taken a back by Harry and what he does and has done (the boys a bit special) and i think he pushes his very hard to get things done

I have always liked Snape, and I was happy to see that his grudge against James and Sirius wasn´t ungrounded. After I had read that part, I didn´t didn´t really like James and Sirius that much anymore - I actually think that people don´t change that much what they have been like when they have been teengers. If they have been teasing other poeple, I just can´t like them, even though they would had changed later. I´m very glad that Lupin didn´t take any part of Ã*t, because it´d had broke my illusion of him..

I like James for doing that to Snape. (Professor? Hah!) I also love the way he played with the Snitch and watching to see if the girls were watching him.

Er... you are obviously much more forgiving than I am... or it could be the fact that I'm a not-so-closet Snape fan.

Snape is an awful, miserable person, I'll agree, but it did urk me that James went out of his way to give Snape a rough time. That was Wrong.

Snape, although still awful and miserable, has grown up enough to foster a speck of moral decency. I think it's probable that James, as someone with considerably less emotional baggage, similarly got over being an arrogant show-off.

In short, I still love them both dearly.

I would have liked to think of James as a polite, fairly mature teenager. Oh well. Boys will be boys I suppose. And like Sirius said, it wasn't like James didn't grow up to be a good guy.

I was astonished too, but I admit I couldn't help laughing! I hate
James, god im stupid
SNAPE for calling Lilly a mudblood
Snape should get over it, Harry isn't James no matter how much they are alike, James was mean and made Snapes life a misery but it was a long time ago. He should move on!

Yes, he should... but from what Harry saw of Snape's memories during their Occlumency lessons, Snape had a lot more problems during his childhood than James teasing him. With all of this weighing him down, moving on is easier said than done!
