The fight between Emperor Palpatine and Yoda

Is it just me or was the fight between Palpatine and Yoda unnecessary?

I didn't exactly hate it but I didn't really enjoy it because I was focusing on the battle between Obi and Ani and the fight was really boring actually. I thought it was funny with the red guards being smacked against the wall and the emperor flying back over his dsk but after that the fight was just boring.

Call me crazy but that's just how I fell about it.

I thought it was kind of symbolic considering where they were fighting. The emperor destoying the senate room thing and Yoda fighting against him for democracy and it's like they're fighting for control of the senate.

I hadn't thought of that. That's a very good insight.

in my opinion, all that did was tarnish yoda's rep.

It was fitting for the most important Jedi Master to take a crack at the Emperor. It was pretty much his duty, for no one else could have done that. If he hadn't done it in Episode III, we would still be wondering why he hadn't.

Absolutely. It HAD to happen. And the significance of tearing up the senate should really have been more obvious to most people. Very symbolic scene. And very well done in juxtaposition with the other inevitable fight.

Yeahp. The best of the Jedi vs. the best of the Sith. That had to be shown eventually, or else all the previous movies would have been nothing but angering teasers. That was the glorious climax! The representative of the light side against the representative of the dark side, wrecking organized intergalactic government in battle. It's what we came to see.

They needed to make Yoda do something so Obi-Wan would be forced to fight Anakin.

Plus everyone wanted to see the greatest Jedi fight the Lord of the Sith.

It was also kind of like a final defeat for the good guys: Yoda, the master, is conquered. Somewhat like the whole movie.
