...

... an alligator floatie???

lobs a massive Hippo poo back at Cap'n rum and like a lithe Mer-man flips a jaunty summersault in the turbulent seas just off the cafes' starboard bows and with an athletic dive disapeears under the tumultous heaving seas of chaos.

P.s. - cute mechanic!

I think it's time for me to say that I am now about 0.0000135 seconds younger than I would have been had I not gone to school today. Ah, I love special relativity! (Yes, I calculated that on my own!)

*walks into the new teacup and puts down bags*

Whoo! Loong flight, and then there was family to visit with and Tano's birthday (Much sillyness and chocolate and Firefly watching and it was happy!) and now I'm at Sane's. And here. All at once, and the warm weather followed me home to seattle so everything's just shiny right now except that I missed the drinking contest... Whee! I need a drink.

(augh! Birdie!)

*starts bouncing off the walls*

*Sane promplty bags-fine....catches- the bouncey lady* Ha, no bounce for you!

*TB stares at trampoline crosseyed, with a somewhat disappointed look*
I was...ah...using that to describe general relativity. I guess I could always improvise...
Anyway, notice that as they jump on the trampoline, the lines painted on it, in the gridlike fashion, are bent. This is similar to the way space warps around the gravitational influence. If you were to put a large bowling ball and a ping pong ball onto the trampoline--*picks up very heavy ball and tosses it on, throwing the jumpers off balance and making a slight obstacle for them*--the bowling ball would cause a much larger dent, as does the sun, than the ping pong ball, or the Earth, and therefore the ping pong ball experiences greater attraction the the larger dent caused by the bowling ball. You see here of course that gravity causes the attraction here, because the bowling ball creates a much deeper dent, as you can see--Gah! *bowling ball is bounced back up due to overlapping bounces from the two jumpers, and is launched in the general direction of Dr. Helliwell*--as you just saw, that is, but it helps to visiualise gravitational attraction as warped space and time.

Will you all just stop it! *jumps up and down in anger, only to realize he cannot stop jumping*
Well, *jump* as you see *jump* the grid *jump* changes shape *jump* with the introduction *jump* of massive *jump* bodies, no *jump* offense *jump* because you would *jump* have the same *jump* mass on *jump* any planet...*jump*

Why--of course--m'lady.--But not--noticeably--compared--to the--Earth. We--are not--massive--enough--and therefore--Earth doesn't--wobble in orbit--except in percession--I think it's--called.

Well TB, since it's just me and you here, check out this pic I found of a black hole.

I guess it happened somewhere called MS 0735.6+7421...whatever that means.

That's a neat pic! Is it really a photograph? No, I don't think it is. It;s great! If it was big enough, I'd make it my wallpaper.
That's probably a codename for the black hole itself.
EDIT: Chess, anyone? Doesn't anyone ever want to play?

No, it's real! It was taken by Hubble in 2004 I think, I'll get you the site and post it, give me a sec. And yes I play chess but I don't know the names of the places on the board so I wouldn't be much fun to play with here.

Edit- Here ya go, here's the link and it seems I was wrong about everything.
