I meant to agree with you here (although you went way over the top). Illini is a great squad this year. Certainly the best back court in the country. In fact i picked them in my preseason final four along with Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Syracuse. And tomorrow i got tickets to see them play against my Georgetown Hoyas who Im sure they will mercelessly crush... but look for me behind and to the right of the basket if you get local games on tv there. Ill be the one screaming to bring back Patrick Ewing...

By the way Lizra, heard five of your team members were being brought up on charges today. Along with five fans. But no one is looking at any fans of consiquence from what I understand. In fact Im sure some of the fans will be happy to milk this opportunity for all its worth and get rich from it if they can.

You probably know PE junior plays at Indiana, don't ya? Not the force his father was - but that's hard to expect.

I was a bit surprised Illinois was actually moved up to #1. Not sure they'll have the inside game to actually wind up one of the very top teams in the country - but this is nice while it lasts!

Yeehaw!! Jermaine O'neal is coming back to play Christmas day...against the Pistons!! (We'll be there to yell and scream !

) An arbitrator cut his suspension to 15 games. (Artest and Jackson's remained the same) While O'neal's new # isn't final (still some sort of NBA hurdles to clear??) a judge of some sort has ruled he CAN play the Saturday game at Conseco against the Pistons!!

Well...the game was a blast, LOT'S of spirit, freebies and noise...too bad we didn't win!

But it was always close and exciting to watch. I'll probably hear "PISTONS SUCK" in my sleep!

Wow - this is strange, and it seems like hardly anyone is noticing.

The Bulls - who have been so LOUSY since the great championship team was dismantled, have been winning lately. Get this:

* They start the season 0-9 - no big surprise and you're wondering if they'll set a new record for least wins.
* The next ten games they go 4-6 - OK, some wins finally, but they're like 4-15 cellar-dwellers.
* Since then, they're 13-3! They started with a 5-game win streak (first win streak longer than 2 since the last 'Jordan year' of 1997-98), and they're currently on a 7-game win streak!

No super-stars, but watch that Ben Gordon - a rookie who has started to come into his own. Eddie Curry is finally showing signs of life, Kirk Hinrich is a great contributor... they're not great yet, and they could certainly hit some bumpy spots through the rest of the year, but they've actually put themselves in playoff contention... something we Chicagoans have been starving for, since... you know when!!

Meanwhile... my very own Fighting Illini are still undefeated and still ranked #1! They've had a few tough moments themselves in conference play (even when the teams aren't ranked high, playing in the Big Ten is TOUGH!), but have managed to pull each game out so far.

It's been a strange season.

The whole Pacers fiasco has put me in the twilight zone.

Val think how I feel. The Wizards are actually playing well. Like a quality team with cohesivness. How did this happen??? The Wizards/Bullets are the poster child of futility. Ive been cheering for them all my life and I cant recall them winning a playoff series since like 1978. Even now no one here believes this will last. That somehow theyll fall apart and wind up under 500 like they always are. And now Larry Hughes has gone down with an inury. This could be the start of the collapse... Be happy yer in the worst division in basketball. And that you had a decades worth of Jordan and Co. to cheer for.
