I can edit that post if you want me to - since we determined that Lur and Lantie need jobs, are royalty and that we all need to go to Minas Tirith, I thought it was kind of a good stopping point - we can't exactly continue the conversation indefinitely...

Well, we had a lot of things that needed to be discussed, which we have now done. I'm ready to move on now.

Shall we include a scene or two where our characters get together their supplies (I suspect the twins may want some other clothes, maybe travel gear) or shall we move straight to the travelling?

Well, they probably won't have much in the way of clothes/gear (unless Indigo is willing to pay for it, for which I don't see the need). But the Hobbit will have his silver lining! With two more strong backs, they'll be able to carry a LOT more food, which will mean more meals and/or more food AT the meals.

This might be a good time for Indigo to discover he's going to have to watch what the twins put in their mouths - They are used to a land where every fruit is edible; nothing is bad for you. They will not understand the point of stocking up food for days. We could have that discussion once we get travelling too, though. I'll let you pick. Me and the twins are flexible.

As soon as Baru has written Elspeth's letter, they will have lunch (with Anahera) - and then some unexpected guests will turn up at the inn to also have lunch.

I haven't been around much lately, I'm afraid - and next week might be another busy one. Perhaps that week is best suited for letter-writing and for the Hobbit taking his guests along the way - and then I can start thinking about Nightshade again.

I'm trying to play again.
Hopefully feawen will be around to carry on - even without her, Midge and I could carry on, but I expect her to turn up.

And hopefully Aika will have more time next term and be able to join us again then ...

Yes, nice little hiatus we had there.

I am so hoping we can get this one rolling again. I had such big plans for my green twins!

Well, without Aika we can only go so far.

Would love to get Indigo and Beryn in action again as well.

Oh good! I did hope that you would find us soon when we started again!

I had meant to move them on to their lunch, but I preferred to have them talk a little about reading and writing first.

Here's an article I wrote some years ago about reading and writing in Middle-earth (I'm a trained teacher, although I've only done office work for the last thirty years).

Perhaps Baru will teach Anahera to read during their journey? Without including all the details of the process, of course.

And now the suggestion has been made, and it's up to the two others to accept or not!

Because it's been so long, I'm just posting an update on where I left all my characters:

Lur and Lantie were with Indigo, who had just decided to talk to Mistress Rosian about plans for going to Minas Tirith

Aerin is stuck in time-limbo with Nightshade (did I get her name right? It has been SUCH a long time!) discussing other worlds and trying to find... something, but I forgot what.

Off to do a bit more memory-research.

Edit: That's right, Nightshade wanted to meet Queen Arwen, so they're headed to the nearest town to get her on her way.

I've been hoping for feawen to post next.

Anyway, how far can we go without Aika?
Baru can meet her friends (old and new) at lunch, and I guess we can even travel all the way to Minas Tirith. We can 'carry' Aika's characters that far.

Nightshade might not even want to meet Queen Arwen anymore, when Baru can tell her that this is the wrong world for finding the Pevensies ... but hopefully she will join the others, Baru will want to have her hanging around, and there is also the hope of getting her back to Narnia eventually.

And either at Minas Tirith or before, they can meet a Hobbit with some more otherworldly travellers

But Aika will need to play Ashkaio herself when he wants to accomplish his mission. We cannot play him for her, and we don't even know everything about her plans for him.

I guess we play our own part of the story until we're stuck. There's a lot of interesting play to do before that ...

And then there's Beryn and the little dragon she's chasing. But I doubt she could meet up with the others before Minas Tirith.

I think that's about it indeed. If push comes to shove we can always take our characters on a mini-adventure pretending they need to occupy themselves when Aika's character consults the King and Queen.

I had forgotten that she was not a part of the Hobbit/Perelandra storyline. Good, the more the merrier

That's right, that's one way we can play Aika's character - send him off to talk to the King, and let her take it from there when she has time to come back.

I'll carry Rivailen, she's easier to carry. I have some experience in the job - in a story I'm running at a different board, I was carrying four or five characters for some months before writing them neatly out of the story (without needing to kill any of them). I'm still carrying the last two, but I know what I'll do with them when we get to the right point in the story.

And you were carrying ever so many characters in LLL - and I love how you managed to play one of them the way you had planned with the original writer, years earlier!

Thank you!
Now I've got them seated for lunch, so it's time for some unexpected lunch guests to turn up.

Aerin and Nightshade, you are welcome to join us
