The Quote Game
I have shamelessly stolen this game from Bacchus at the Tolkien Inklings forum at SF-Fandom, who stole it from the rabid Legolas fans on the Orlando Bloom forum at SF-Fandom. It was a smashing success. Basically, you take a quote and remove every second letter, and put a slash between words. Whoever identifies the quote and speaker posts the next one.
example: A_l/_h_t/_s/_o_d/_o_s/_o_/g_i_t_r answer: All that is gold does not glitter, Gandalf's letter (or Bilbo Baggins) Anything from The Hobbit, LOTR, or the Silmaillion is fair game. To start us off: M_n_/t_a_/l_v_/d_s_r_e/_e_t_/A_d/_o_e/_h_t/_i_/d_s_r_e/_i_e |

meep! That's hard! That or it's from Hobbit or Silmarillion, neither of which I have finished reading. . .but it looks like a really fun game!!!
*spends the rest of the night puzzling over it*

Oh! I got it! The speaker is Gandalf, and it is "Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life." I'll wait for your confirmation that I am correct before I post the next one, though.

Post one!! These seem to be much easier than riddles (so far), so I might actually get something right. Yay for me.

Not that Eruviel has done this, but just a suggestion here. When you make your quote, be sure that it is exact, spelled correctly, and that the slashes and blank spaces are in the proper places. Otherwise, it will throw the quote off and make it difficult to figure out.
Also, do not forget to add in the punctuation folks. |

Eruviel, you may want to give a small hint, only because it is showing to be too dificult. Also, if it takes too long, and people get too discouraged, you may consider revealing the answer, and posting another quote. If that happens, it is still the same persons turn.

Then a hint there will be! I'll start with this: It's in Lord of the Rings, and it is not in book one or two. If you need more hints, I'll give more, but I don't want to give it away entirely just yet!

by "not book one or two", do you mean not in FotR? as in books 1/2 out of 6? or as in not FotR or TTT?

As in 'not FotR,' sorry for the confusion.

that's what i thought, just wanted to make sure. i thought you would have said "FotR or TTT" instead of "book one or two", but i wasn't sure.
*goes and searches for her copy of TTT and RotK, then searches through each of them*

It is said during a battle. If you post what you have so far, I will tell you if you are on the right track. Good luck to you!
