harry potter : voldimort family?

is it just me or is there a small posibility that voldimort may have had children. but if he did who would it be? or if he had brothers or sisters? now that could be a powerful plot line! do you think that voldimort could be related to dumboldore? and thats why he is frightend of him?

Are you suggesting Snape is Voldemort's son? Now's there's something that hadn't occured to me before...

Voldemort is old enough to be Snape's father, and though we also don't know who Snape's parents are... I dunno, I'm not feeling it on this one.

Interesting thought! Evil characters seem to kind of want to grasp at eternal life, even if only through offspring. We'll see ...

I rather hope Snape is not his son. That would just be too tidy of a story line, it's a better plot when things are more messy (suspends belief better) IMHO

Snape is the BOMB!

Funny, I always thought of Snape as one who is not happy with "marshmellos, smiles and puppy dog tails" but generally down deep is on the side of "light". He just prefers to front the dark arts. It's just MO

The other thing is JKR suggests, to me anyway, that people aren't always what they seem on the outside. In the first couple books, Harry and Ron always thought Snape was responsible for various evil things that he was actually working against!

Right. Also note that it's Defense Against the Dark Arts he wants to teach so badly.

I imagine that Dumbledore would let him teach it if he wasn't so blatantly biased. I guess Dumbledore does have a line about what is not acceptable by teachers - better that 3/4 of the school are put off Potions rather than Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Otherwise it would be the perfect solution - the position of Potions master would probably not be as hard to fill.

a very interesting theory, but I agree with Nurv and Spock on this one. However, just because ones father is evil does not under any circumstances make the offspring evil. So don't rule it out.

I agree with this - JKR certainly suggests (through Harry and James, for example) that we are made by are own actions, not by who our parents were.

However, I just don't see why she would write Snape as Voldemort's son. I just have a great deal of difficulty picturing Tom Riddle getting married or having a one night stand or something. And as Voldemort, he's this weird, half undead thing hell-bent on world domination. Not much time/inclination for romance.

I guess there are post-Hogwarts Tom Riddle possibilities though.

it would be cool, but that would institute a dramatic battle in which snape defeats voldemort at the last second in some cunning unforseen way, and we all know its going to be dumbledore, harry, or neville.
