This is the hint which allowed me to find the way in : 221.

There is also a relatively new EZBoard feature which makes getting in much easier than it used to be.

The miserable little hobbit tries every way that he can see and is stymied. He sees no relevance to the number 221, which at the moment seems to be the number of views on the long unnamed thread!

As he pounds his little head on the desk, his co-workers wonder if old Gil has finally cracked.

The little hobbit read EVERY entry on the Help screen and found no help at all!

Becoming more frustrated with every attempt, he began to actually wonder if it weren't a Conspiracy against him. Looking up the thread by bmilder's name under the Search page convinced him that it was just paranoia to think that. The thread was long begun before Gilthalion ever saw it.

It couldn't be a conspiracy against him...

...unless they KNEW he was out there!

He incorporates the number into an ancient spell of opening.

CURSES!

He realizes that he inserted the wrong number and tries again, laughing with wild reckless glee!

"Sweet, sweet success!" said the hobbit, through a mouthful of fudge brownie.

And with that, the little hobbit ran back up the trail to the hitherto secret entrance where a plate of brownies required the kind of attention that only a greedy hobbit can give.

Hummm... brownies... makes me hungry!

Hint: There's an even EASIER way to do it nowadays.

You guys are taking all the challenge out of it...

"Challenge!" the little hobbit cried.

"This is no challenge! Any amature numerologist could come up with the answer! Once you get the right number in the right place in the right spell, its a cinch."

And with that, the little hobbit replaced his party hat and scuttled back up the trail.

A sound could be heard of yelling, and shouting, and laughing and carrying on as if a great sports event were underway. But the sound was muffled and distant, as if buried far underground.

It stopped abruptly with a sound as if a great rush of water sprayed briefly over a fall and was hushed.

The outcry resumed, but seemed angry now!

Within seconds, the little hobbit dashed back out across the trail and into the thicket on the other side. He was a pale green color and kept his hands clasped tightly over his mouth. Soon the by-passers on the trail could hear the miserable little hobbit wretching until he was empty.

He came back with watery eyes, but had returned to a pale, but more normal color.

"I wouldn't go in there if I was you!" he muttered as he walked right by them and back inside his little hole.
