Ben and the gang, what have you deliberated about the new ezboard toll to make polls? Don´t you think it´d be good to include it in some forums?

Polls aren´t so funny as discussing but sometimes they are very informative.

I too like polls......the LOTR Poll started by Guardian (I think) is very useful.

I know about them. I don't want to enable them here because people would really just go overboard with too many stupid polls. And this is a discussion board, not a polling board.

It looks cool, but would only be a service to 8 year old's boards.

I think you should allow polls, but put limits on the amount. For example, Each person can post one poll a week. If they post more, the second one gets deleted, and they either get a trashing title or they get banned.

Like I said elsewhere, I've got no problem with it one way or the other, though I do think that a limit on poll numbers would probably be a good idea if polls are allowed.

That having been said; I know this is off subject, but I have been meaning to ask this and I might as well ask it where it will make some sense, in light of previous posts. How do you folks do the sig and little graphics business? I think that is really cool, but the directions don't really make a lot of sense to me, I am covered with shame to admit
I like your luv too, Noldo, it looks really sharp. Could I use a little animation too? And if so, how do I go about it?
I know this is out of place and please feel free to move it elsewhere, if there is perhaps already a thread about this and I just haven't seen it yet.

ethereal..., to made a sig or a personal pic you must go to "My Control Center". You have a link at Entmoot main page, just under the yellow Enmoot word.

Once there you must click on the "personal" tab and then in the Edit Preferences link.

That should help if you´re only a little disoriented. But if your problem is about html i´ll leave it to Ben...

Boy, there is nothing quite like computers for making me feel like a true and total boob.
Ok, I have read over the ezboard help material and I still have one (well, two) questions to ask of anyone who is in the know.
1. when I am asked to enter the URL of my own image. I am a little unclear on this. Do I need to have a personal web page or something, so that ezboard has a place to go and retrieve this image? Where can I place my image for retrieval?

2. is it permissible for me to start a little thread somewhere that won't be in anyone's way, so I can have a look at what I have done and see how it works? perhaps in advertisements? or is this an unnecessary thing to do, if a preview is offered when I set it up?

No doubt this is old hat for you folks, but I am still sort of unfamiliar with computing, esp the internet. I think it a good idea to try to learn such things as apply to where I go online and hope that it will also apply elsewhere later. I do not have any desire to take up your time, don't get me wrong. If there is a good, understandable(to an idiot like me, remember )tutorial out there I would be game for that. But since I have not had the greatest of luck finding such info online, I figured just asking a question couldn't hurt.

Yes, you need some space to store your image. You need to upload it to the Web somewhere. There are plenty of free websites, but increasingly they aren't allowing people to use their images other than on that server. You can try www.geocities.com as they still allow images to be linked to other servers.

You can make a thread testing it, but it will be closed when you're done. I know I've done it, but in the "privacy" of the moderator forum

Also remember that the image should be square and is best if it's 16x16 pixels. If the image you wanna use is already on the web then you don't need to host it yourself, you can justlink to it's url, unless it's hosted by some evil group like angelfire.

So how do I decide on the pixel size of an image? I mean, do I stick it into Paint and count them or is there an easier way?



Well, never mind. Naturally I can't make that work either, since Goecities is a monstrous headache and in any case there is a note in the policy to the effect that there is: "no storing of files for remote loading or as a door or signpost to another page in or out of geocities". Which figures, since that is all I wanted out of it. So I guess I am limited to old boring posts and no interest added. I really hate computing, to an extent, since nothing wants to work right for me and I am too stupid to even figure out if the problem is with me or the system.

For years I just used Geocities, although they are unreliable and have deleted my page once or twice . Now we have a reliable domain of our own, tolkientrail.com
