The best kind of knowledge is that which is learned through your own work, not that of others. Your parents couldn't teach you to tie your shoes by tying them for you the rest of your life; they showed you how, and then you had to attempt to tie them yourself until you could. The same thing applies to Legolas. You won't completely understand who he was if we just lay out the facts about him. Read the books for goodness' sake.
