Gandalf The Hobbit opener

My son is doing a report for school on the Hobbit. Help we have a book missing the first 15 pages and one of the questions is " What is the opening line of the book" please help

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit, not a nasty dirty wet hole filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor a bare dry one, with nowhere to sit on. It was a hobbit hole and that means confort. It had a perfectly round door like a portal...

Not just the most famous
probably the best.
I mean how perfect is it. I have it memorized.I mean it just about sums up the book too. It sets the whole mood for the book. I mean whoa...

i think there is a website that i visited recently that had the first chapter downloadable on pdf. i forget where i found the link... possibly theonering.net hmm... maybe ill look around for it

That the opening line was scibbled on a test J.R.R. Tolken was gradeing (Tolken scribbled it, so no one else is to blame )

This has been a Did you know... from me9996 the tread wizzard (But for know stuck on hobbit)

i'll be glad to tell you what goes on in the frist 15 pages Bookworm. the frist fifteen pages are a map and gadolfs reaqantice with billbo
