Hmm. I definitely love LOTR, but when I think of favourite books, some other authors keep coming into my mind too... whose books I really love and enjoy reading...

For me, Tolkien is a category in himself, somehow... apart from the other books I have. His works will always have a special place (on my bookshelf and in my mind ), and won't enter the "who-is-my-favourite" competition, because there's simply no need to.

So... maybe it means he's my favourite after all

It is difficult for me to have only one favorite book. Different books are enjoyable for different reasons.

One reason that I really enjoy LOTR is the story and the way it is told.
I have also enjoyed Asimov and Bradbury (sp? 451°F) even though they tell different type of stories.

I would definitely have LOTR in my top 10 (probably top 5).

I love LOTR. I remember after I read it, I didn't even try to read anything else cause I was stuck in this 'Nothing could ever compare to that' phase. Lol. But, the thrill wore off... Sadly. Lol. It is still my all time favorite trilogy. ^.^

[pedanticman]it's not a trilogy[/pedanticman]

They (lotr, hobbil, sil) are some of my favourites, I also love GRR Martin, Frank Herbert's Dune, and Dan Simmons Hyperion. Also the original Foundation Trilogy.
