Silmarillion Music

I highly recommend the CD "Nightfall in Middle Earth" by Blind Guardian. I have only just discovered this and it's fantastic. Most of the songs have to deal with things from The Silmarillion. My favorite song is "The Curse of Feanor". It came out in 1998.

Isn't Blind Guardian a rock or heavy metal group? It's interesting to think what Tolkine would have made of their take on his work .

Have it and love it

Harvest of Sorrow is my favorite just cause it's so pretty.

I think it'd be Tolkien's favorite too. if he had to pick

It's not really my kind of music (but it's Tolkien related so I have it! ) But I'd have to say Blood Tears! For the melodic moments! Pure tear worthy! ( but not blood ones hopefully! )

Absolutely LOVE that album! "A Dark Passage" (sung from Melkor's point of view) is my personal favourite song on it, followed, probably, by "Time Stands Still". But the true gems of that particular album, for me personally, were those little bits of non-musical dialogue in between the tracks ("Captured", "The Steadfast", "War of Wrath" etc). If there was a audiobook/recording of the entire Silmarillion in that style, and with those voice actors playing Melkor and Sauron, I'd be a very happy girl.

A lot of the somgs thereon has lyrics from multiple POVs. I believe a dark passage has a couple of verses from Hurin, and some from Morgoth's minions, as well as those from Morgoth.

Oh, you're totally right that his is not the only PoV in that particular track, Lefty. But over half of the lyrics, including the chorus, are sung as if by him, and the track is, after all, alternatively known as/subtitled "Melkors Song".
