Dogsledding

Aside from the works of Tolkien and C. S. Lewis, I like to read about dogsledding. Anybody know of any good books in that field?

Well, that's rather an unusual topic, isn't it?

I think anything by Jack London should have a fair amount of dogsledding in it (writes alot about the Klondike gold rush). "Call of the Wild" is all about a sled dog. The only other one of his I read was "White Fang", which features a half dog, half wolf that does pull a sled at some point....so...that might be a place to start.
This is assuming you are interesting in novels about dogsledding. If you want a "guide to raising sled dogs..." or something like that...I can't help you there.

I was going to suggest Jack London as well. Both those books are fascinating! I've read them several times.

I read White Fang in fourth grade, and I loved it. Haven't read it since, but it's a pretty timeless book. The description of the owner that did the dog fights (forgot his name) really 'tickled my fancy'.

I've read those too. The are quite good. Timeless is a good way to describe them. I realize now that I like books about dogs in general. Anyone with ideas about those?

I love books about dogs. Some of my favorites are:
"Sunnybank Lad" by Albert Payson Terhune
"Beautiful Joe"' by Marshall Sauders
If you want an interesting twist on a dog story, look for:
"The Dog Days of Arthur Caine"
If you want a supernatural thriller with a dog, try:
"Watchers" by Dean Koontz
If you want a dog story set in a fantasy realm, try :
"Top Dog", and" Dog Eat Dog" by Jerry Jay Carroll
If you want a mystery, where a cat and dog help their owner to solve crimes, try Rita Mae Brown's series that starts with
"Wish You Were Here."

well as much as i hate books about dog sledding i think that gary paulsen has some books bout it, true stories if i remember right
