Has anyone 'dismissed' an issue yet? I'm about to find out what that does. My issue for today (maybe because of the importance of religion in my country) was the appointment of a spiritual advisor. None of the three choices I was given were that great (all were charicatures - with obvious faults), so I'm choosing to dismiss the issue. I'll keep you posted...

I dismissed a ridiculous issue regarding the New Harry Potter books having Harry call on demons to help him....the options were either banning the books or allowing them so that we didn't have to listen to the crazy Christian zealots....I just dismissed it

Without knowing too much, I just get the impression that you surrender a lot of control of your country to everyone else when you join.

Dismiss it, then. This is the equivalent of ignoring an issue until people stop talking about it and there's not so much pressure to do something. If you were a real government, you'd do this all the time, of course, but in NationStates it's more interesting if you respond to issues by actually making decisions.

you should put it on 2 issues per day,
i got an organ donation issue where i voted for people to choose if they want to give up there organs instead of the gov. taking the organs w/o permission.
and door to door salesman went on strike and I chose to fire the trouble makers. instead of give them a raise.

Just scanned previous UN proposals. Some are very nice ideas, but I can't agree with all of them. Not sure if the list I saw was only the proposals passed - but all the ones I saw DID pass, once taken to a vote. The margins varied... the closest was on euthanasia - which I would oppose.

Remember... you join, they're all yours! Make sure you look closely at what you're getting into.
